Planning Engineer – Civil / Electrical / Mechanical
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat, India
Experience: 3–5 years
About the Company
Baselineworld is a Vadodara-based engineering and design firm that delivers integrated solutions for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The company works across civil, electrical, and mechanical project environments, bringing together planning, design, and execution support for clients that need reliable delivery across complex assignments. This role sits inside a business that values disciplined project control, clear coordination, and practical execution support. The Planning Engineer will contribute to timelines, reporting, and cross-functional alignment so projects move from design intent to site execution with visibility and control. The environment is suited to someone who is comfortable working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders, and who can turn project data into actionable planning decisions.
About the Role
The Planning Engineer will own project scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting across civil, electrical, or mechanical workstreams. The role is accountable for maintaining reliable plans that reflect actual site conditions, identifying deviations early, and supporting corrective action through analysis and coordination. You will work across design, procurement, and execution teams to keep milestones realistic and visible. Success in this role comes from strong control of schedules, disciplined use of planning tools, and the ability to translate engineering inputs into transparent work programs and progress dashboards. This is a hands-on coordination role for someone who can balance planning detail with business impact and help keep delivery on track throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project schedules, bar charts, and work programs that create a clear execution path for site and management teams. Ensure the plan reflects project scope, sequencing, and milestone expectations.
- Develop and maintain project plans in Primavera P6 and MS Project so progress can be tracked against a controlled baseline. Keep updates current and usable for decision-making.
- Monitor project progress against actual site execution and update schedules when deviations appear.
Translate status changes into timely planning actions that reduce delay impact.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and dashboards that give stakeholders clear visibility into performance. Use reporting to support quicker decisions and stronger project control.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and site execution teams to align timelines, dependencies, and deliverables. Remove planning gaps before they affect milestones or handovers.
- Assist in manpower planning, material planning, and resource allocation so project capacity matches execution demand. Support efficient deployment of people and materials across work fronts.
- Perform delay analysis and recommend corrective planning actions based on schedule slippage, site constraints, and execution trends. Help the team recover time and protect project commitments.
- Review engineering drawings, BOQs, and project specifications for planning activities and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project, with the ability to build, update, and manage schedules that guide project execution. This is central to keeping plans reliable and actionable.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for planning, reporting, and data analysis, including the ability to organize progress data into useful dashboards and decision-support outputs. Accuracy and speed matter in day-to-day reporting.
- Sound understanding of project scheduling, resource planning, progress monitoring, and delay analysis. You should be able to connect schedule movement with practical site impact.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOQs, and project specifications so planning inputs are technically sound. This helps convert design information into workable execution plans.
- Strong analytical, coordination, communication, and reporting skills to work effectively across design, procurement, execution,
and stakeholder groups. The role depends on clear follow-through and reliable communication.
- Experience in EPC, engineering consultancy, or project management environments, with preference for industrial and commercial projects. Relevant exposure will help you operate with less ramp-up time.
Additional Plus
- Prior exposure to infrastructure projects is an added advantage because the role may involve multiple project types and coordination demands. This can strengthen planning judgment across wide-ranging execution contexts.
- Experience supporting project control functions beyond pure scheduling is helpful, especially where reporting, coordination, and milestone governance are closely linked. That broader view improves delivery oversight.
- Comfort working in fast-moving engineering environments with multiple stakeholders will be useful, since the role depends on keeping plans aligned as site conditions change.
What You'll Bring
- A B.E. or B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, backed by 3–5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling. Your background should show hands-on planning ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, progress updates, and delay analysis in a way that improves delivery control. You should be able to show how your work supported project visibility.
- Strong coordination skills with the confidence to work across design, procurement, site execution, and external stakeholders. Clear communication and follow-through are essential.
- A practical, detail-oriented mindset that turns project data into planning decisions and execution support. The role rewards people who are structured, responsive, and outcome-focused.
What We Offer
- Health insurance and Provident Fund are provided as part of the employee benefits package. These support stability and long-term employee welfare.
- The role offers the chance to work on industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects in a planning function that directly influences project delivery. That creates visible ownership and real business impact.
- You will work in a hands-on engineering environment where planning, reporting, and coordination are central to how projects succeed. This is a robust fit for someone who wants direct exposure to project execution.
