Position: Assistant Professor – Fingerprint Science (Forensic Science)

Qualification

- P.hD in Forensic Science with specialization in Fingerprint Science
- Preference will be given to candidates having practical experience in Fingerprint Examination, Crime Scene Investigation, AFIS, and research publications in reputed journals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Academic Responsibilities

- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Fingerprint Science and related forensic subjects.
- Develop innovative teaching methodologies including case-based learning, simulation exercises, and practical demonstrations.
- Prepare lecture plans, laboratory manuals, assignments, question banks, and course files.
- Mentor students for dissertations, research projects, internships, and competitive examinations.
- Conduct internal assessments, practical examinations, and viva-voce.

2. Laboratory Development

- Establish and maintain a state-of-the-art Fingerprint Examination Laboratory.
- Develop SOPs for fingerprint development, comparison, photography, and documentation.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, consumables, and equipment.
- Ensure laboratory safety, quality assurance, and accreditation readiness.
- Introduce modern fingerprint technologies and digital comparison systems.

3. Practical Training

The faculty should be capable of providing hands-on training in:

- Latent fingerprint development using physical and chemical methods.
- Powder dusting techniques.
- Ninhydrin, Silver Nitrate, Iodine Fuming, Cyanoacrylate Fuming, Small Particle Reagent (SPR), Physical Developer, and other advanced methods.
- Ridge characteristic identification and comparison.
- Fingerprint photography and documentation.
- AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System).
- Crime scene fingerprint search, collection, preservation, and lifting.
- Palm print and footprint examination.
- Preparation of expert reports for fingerprint examination.

4. Research and Innovation

- Initiate research projects in Fingerprint Science and Forensic Identification.
- Publish high-quality research papers in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals.




- Apply for research grants from government funding agencies.
- Develop patents, software tools, databases, and innovative forensic technologies.
- Guide Ph.D. scholars and postgraduate research students.

5. Departmental Development

The faculty member is expected to actively contribute to the growth of the department by:

- Developing advanced Fingerprint Science laboratories.
- Designing recent certificate, diploma, and value-added courses.
- Preparing proposals for procurement of modern forensic instruments.
- Assisting in curriculum revision according to industry and government requirements.
- Preparing documents for NAAC, NBA, NIRF, and other accreditation processes.
- Developing laboratory manuals, SOPs, and quality documentation.
- Supporting student admissions through outreach programs and promotional activities.
- Organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, expert lectures, and FDPs.
- Building collaborations with State Forensic Science Laboratories, Central Forensic Science Laboratories, Police Departments, NCRB, and other forensic organizations.
- Coordinating industrial visits and internship opportunities.
- Assisting in departmental rankings, branding, and academic excellence initiatives.

6. Industry and Government Collaboration

- Develop collaborations with forensic laboratories, police organizations, and investigative agencies.
- Facilitate internships, industrial training, and placement opportunities.
- Coordinate consultancy projects in fingerprint examination and forensic identification.
- Invite experts from academia and industry for guest lectures and training programs.

7. Student Development

- Mentor students for higher education and career planning.
- Prepare students for recruitment examinations conducted by FSLs, CFSLs, NFSU, UPSC, SSC, and other government organizations.




- Encourage participation in research competitions, hackathons, forensic camps, and scientific conferences.

8. Administrative Responsibilities

- Participate in departmental committees and university activities.
- Maintain academic records and documentation.
- Assist in examination duties, admissions, accreditation work, and quality assurance activities.
- Perform responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department, Dean, or University administration.

Desired Technical Skills

- Fingerprint comparison and identification.
- Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).
- Latent fingerprint development techniques.
