About the Role:
The Software Engineer is a hands-on contributor responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable and resilient software solutions with AI as a force multiplier across the development lifecycle. The engineer works closely with systems engineers, network teams, and cross-functional development squads to create highly available applications using modern technologies such as microservices, virtualization, and cloud-native patterns, while leveraging AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to ship faster and with higher quality. The role supports both greenfield and semi-routine engineering projects, with the opportunity to contribute to architecture, design, and delivery. Successful candidates bring a mindset of continuous learning, fluency with AI development tools, and a desire to challenge conventional limitations in enterprise software delivery.
We pride ourselves on encouraging a culture of innovation, agile ways of working, and transparency in all we do. Join us in embodying the spirit of the Un-carrier and make a tangible impact!
What Youll Do:
- Design, develop, and deploy software solutions to meet operational and strategic goals, using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery.
- Work across the full software stack and lifecycle from requirements to deployment and monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for new systems, APIs, and integrations using AI tools to draft and keep documentation in sync with code.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and participate in code/design reviews.
- Stay informed on emerging AI technologies, agentic workflows, and developer-productivity tools, and assess their applicability to current systems.
- Participate in AI-driven innovation initiatives aimed at optimizing current systems,
automating repetitive engineering work, and introducing new capabilities.
- Support testing activities and CI/CD pipelines through automation and tooling, including AI-assisted test generation, code review, and pipeline diagnostics.
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 36 years of experience in software engineering or full-stack development roles, with hands-on use of AI coding assistants in day-to-day work.
- Proven ability to develop, test, and deploy software in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Robust understanding of system protocols, software lifecycles, and data flow design.
- Experience working with containerization, virtualization, and modern development frameworks.
- Effective communication and documentation skills, including the ability to write clear prompts and instructions for AI tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on technical tasks and contribute to team objectives.
Must Have Skills:
- Java Spring Boot
- REST APIs
- SQL (Strong)
- NoSQL (Basic)
- Kubernetes
- Hands-on proficiency with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) and prompt engineering
- Practical experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Bedrock) into applications
- Comfort with agentic workflows, MCP tools, and AI-assisted debugging
- DevOps / CI-CD (Jenkins or GitLab CI)
- Cloud Platform: AWS or GCP or Azure
- Messaging: RabbitMQ or Kafka or ActiveMQ or Amazon SQS or Azure Service Bus
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with microservices architecture and API development.
- Familiarity with SDN, NFV, or Big Data platforms.
- Experience working in agile and DevOps-oriented teams.
- Prior exposure to automation frameworks and test-driven development.
- Experience building AI-augmented internal tools, agents, or RAG-based applications.
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent frameworks, or LLM evaluation.
