Job Title Architect
Business Context and Brief:
Amadeus Airport IT suite of products covers multiple applications to manage flights, fixed and mobile resources, public/private/mobile displays of information, and multiple other software solutions to optimize their critical activity.
This project reveals to the team members the hidden face of an airport, the huge complexity to handle ground operations when thousands of persons are synchronized through complex processes, the challenges for the IT, and the key improvements we will design.
The target of the Airport IT R&D; entity is to design, implement and deploy Airport Operational Solutions to the segments of Airport Authorities and Ground Handlers, in collaboration with Airlines.
This role plays a key role in the Amadeus Airport IT suite of products, specifically focusing on Airport Operational Solution. The Architect would be instrumental in leading all technology, architectural and design decisions for the product working alongside the engineering managers and a set of product functional technical experts. The architect is also expected to anticipate technical risks, obsolescence and design/architect robust solutions and also participate to complex production investigations.

Common accountabilities:





- Proficient in technical knowledge to ensure team performs at a high level. Is recognized as a leader in own area and may formally train Specialists/Senior Specialists.
- Understands how main business drivers may impact on own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact on the activity, improve processes, recommend solutions and risk mitigation plans. Able to communicate complex information.
- Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions. Leads projects or contributes to broad cross-functional projects. May contribute to planning of resources and budget.
Specific accountabilities:

On top of software development engineer activities (user requirements definition, technical solution design and coding, testing, software solutions debugging...) the architect :

- Is responsible for software architecture throughout the lifecycle development taking into consideration system constraints and enterprise architecture strategic directions
- Participation and follow-up of technical governance topics: non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, resiliency, stability…), cross-applications (architecture) topics (e.g. reduction of the number of environments, tests automation…)




- Directs and coordinates software architecture studies for their functional area
- Identifies modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities
- Provides knowledge on state-of-the art software architecture, taking future developments into account
- Articulates the design to the development teams
- Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools
- Contributes to the architect community, educates, studies options, and recommends evolutions
Innovation
- Foster innovation and operational performance in the deployment of new functionalities, services and technologies
- Improve project delivery and provide recommendations for process improvement
- Identify new solutions and opportunities in Amadeus' service offerings
- Establish technical standard and drive engineering practices
Technologies:

- Backend technologies: Java, Spring boot, Oracle, Splunk
- UI technologies: Web UI (Angular,etc), mobile UI (angular, etc)
- Messaging technologies (event driven architecture) / Kafka
- Cloud (Azure preferred, other are fine)
- Big data and other data engineering tools/technologies like scala, spark, etc
- Tools/tech related to observability, performant/resilient systems, mission critical applications
