Job Title: Project Engineer (Construction)

Job SummaryThe Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing construction and interior fit-out projects. The role involves managing site activities, coordinating with consultants, contractors, vendors, and clients, ensuring timely execution, maintaining quality standards, monitoring costs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
- Key Responsibilities
- Project ExecutionPlan and execute construction and interior fit-out works as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate daily site activities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Prepare and monitor project schedules and work programs.
- Ensure timely completion of milestones within the approved timeline.
- Monitor labour productivity and optimize resource utilization.
- Site Coordination-
- Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, and client representatives.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors for uninterrupted workflow.
- Resolve site issues and technical challenges promptly.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and workmanship.
- Technical Responsibilities
- Review GFC drawings, shop drawings, and BOQs before execution.
- Verify measurements and quantities for billing and procurement.
- Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and relevant IS Codes.
- Prepare RFIs, site instructions, and technical clarifications where required.
- Identify design clashes and coordinate with consultants for resolutions.
- Quality Control
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and prepare snag lists.
- Monitor material quality before installation.
- Ensure rectification of defects before handing over completed works.
- Planning & Procurement
- Forecast material requirements based on project schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Verify supplier deliveries and maintain material records.
- Cost Control
- Monitor project costs against approved budgets.
- Assist in preparation of client bills and subcontractor bills.
- Verify contractor measurements and certifications.
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Documentation
- Maintain Daily Progress Reports (DPRs).
- Prepare Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports.
- Maintain site records, inspection reports, and material registers.
- Document change orders, variations, and additional works.
- Maintain project correspondence and site documentation.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company HSE policies.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by all site personnel.
- Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Client Management
- Attend client and consultant meetings.
- Provide regular project updates.
- Ensure timely closure of client observations.
- Maintain qualified relationships with all stakeholders.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3–8 years of experience in construction and interior fit-out projects.
- Experience in commercial interiors, hospitality, retail, residential, or institutional projects is preferred.
