patch management applying patches and vulnerability scanning of middleware solutions to support the organization s applications and services This role involves ensuring the security reliability and performance of middleware components as well as collaborating with various teams to support application deployment and maintenance Over time the engineer will also learn to manage database patching and vulnerability scanning Roles and Responsibilities Patching and Vulnerability Management Primary Focus Develop and implement a patch management strategy for middleware components Regularly perform vulnerability assessments and apply patches to mitigate identified risks Test patches in a segregated environment before deployment to ensure compatibility and stability Apply patches in a timely manner based on the criticality and priority of the updates Document all patching activities and maintain records of the versions in use Middleware Management Oversee the installation configuration and maintenance of middleware solutions such as IBM WebSphere Application Server Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform EAP Apache Tomcat IBM HTTP Server Oracle HTTP Server and Oracle WebLogic Server Ensure the smooth operation and performance of middleware components including IBM WebSphere MQ and IBM App Connect Enterprise IBM Integration Bus Monitoring and Troubleshooting Monitor middleware environments using tools like Splunk and Zabbix to ensure high availability and performance Troubleshoot and resolve middleware-related issues promptly to minimize downtime Security and Compliance Implement and manage security measures for database environments Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards The role requires handling audit responses and addressing internal processes not limited to Singapore and India Collaboration and Support Work closely with development operations and security teams to support application deployment and maintenance Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff Hands-on Work and Administration Perform hands-on work in database setup configuration and maintenance Manage administration and operational tasks related to database environments Task Management and Scheduling Manage personal tasks and schedules effectively to meet project deadlines Update and create Work Breakdown Structures WBS for project planning and tracking Issue Resolution and Escalation Resolve database-related issues promptly and efficiently Properly escalate unresolved issues to higher-level gradually learn to manage middleware patching and vulnerability scanning Apply the same principles of patch management and vulnerability scanning to middleware environments Technical Expertise Proficiency in middleware technologies such as IBM WebSphere Red Hat JBoss EAP Apache Tomcat IBM HTTP Server Oracle HTTP Server and Oracle WebLogic Server Experience with automation tools like Jenkins and Ansible Knowledge of containerization platforms like Red Hat Openshift Monitoring and Security Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Zabbix Understanding of security tools and practices including McAfee Antivirus and Trend Micro solutions Problem-Solving Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex database issues Ability to work under pressure and manage
