REQUIREMENTS TASKS DELIVERABLES We require one Senior DevOps Engineer to support the work of the eTools unit within the Information and Communication Technology Division ICTD The consultants will report to the ICT Manager eTools BACKGROUND To achieve better results for children leverages digital platforms such as eTools an integrated solution that supports Country Offices in managing partnerships and programmes eTools improves results-based management and provides transparency and accountability through modules like the Partnership Management Portal PMP and Field Monitoring FMM which allow the organization to develop manage and track progress on programmes and operations eTools is widely used across offices and serves as a central operational platform that supports thousands of staff and partners Given its critical role in day-to-day operations eTools must remain reliable scalable and adaptable to evolving technologies and field needs To support the modernization of the eTools infrastructure ICTD seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer The consultant will help automate pipelines improve integrations across platforms help migrate to Azure infrastructure and set up reproducible demo test environments The goal is to enable teams to deliver faster more reliable and traceable deployments with reduced manual effort eTools utilizes Python as a programming language and Django as a framework for backend APIs and admin interface React is used for front end development The entire ecosystem is deployed on Kubernetes The DevOps will work under the oversight of eTools and ICTD teams TASKS The consultant will work closely with the eTools technical team and ICTD prioritizing weekly tasks in an agile approach The expected responsibilities include 1 Pipeline Modernization Automation a Upgrade legacy CircleCI configurations b Standardize pipelines to I Build Docker images retag and push to DockerHub II Automate Kubernetes pod redeployments c Ensure CI CD is secure scalable and aligned with practices 2 Integration QA Efficiency a Connect Azure DevOps Boards with GitHub repositories b Automate status updates of user stories and QA cards c Ensure QA team can track deployments automatically without relying on manual developer updates 3 Infrastructure Migration Support a Support eTools migration to Azure-based infrastructure b Assist in upgrading legacy Kubernetes clusters to modern AKS environments c Implement monitoring alerting and cost optimization 4 Demo Sandbox Automation a Design automation for LastMile demo environments spin-up ETL connectivity script execution b Reduce manual setup time by creating reproducible sandbox environments 5 Security Support Documentation a Provide efficient IT support to eTools and its collaborators like giving access to development environments setting up new open source testing tools deploying recent proof of concepts and prototypes etc through transparent and efficient ticketing system b Define and enforce DevOps security guidelines c Maintain transparent processes for granting access deploying proofs-of-concept and supporting collaborators d Provide documentation for pipelines automation scripts and operational guidelines The exact tasks for the consultant will be jointly determined in an agile way The consultant will directly interface with the eTools technical team and will work on tasks areas as prioritized and authorized by the lead at the start of each week Upon completion of tasks the Technical Manager will certify completeness and quality of work for payment Qualification Requirements At least 5 years of experience in DevOps engineering for software data platforms Strong expertise in CI CD tools CircleCI GitHub Actions Azure Pipelines Hands-on experience with Docker Kubernetes AKS and Azure infrastructure Proven ability to integrate project management tools Azure DevOps GitHub Projects Strong scripting automation background Bash Python Helm Bicep Kustomize Experience with monitoring alerting and cost optimization in cloud environments Familiarity with Agile methodologies Strong problem-solving skills ability to work independently and openness to collaboration Language Requirements Fluency in English is required Additional UN languages will be considered an asset
