Position Overview

This is a horizontal platform leadership role spanning all product areas. The role drives technical direction, architecture standards, and engineering excellence across a cloud-native SaaS platform serving thousands of dental practices across North America. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on engineering depth with the ability to set and enforce platform-wide standards across multiple teams and products.

Leadership is earned through technical authority, execution excellence, and the ability to solve genuinely hard distributed systems problems.

Role & Responsibilities

- Own platform-wide architecture standards and design principles, leading architecture reviews and technical design discussions across all product teams.
- Act as technical authority for business-critical systems — reviewing complex designs and critical code paths,



and identifying technical risks early across the platform.
- Contribute hands-on to the implementation of critical backend services, scalable APIs, and cloud-native components on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway).
- Drive containerization, infrastructure automation, and observability improvements — including monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing — in partnership with DevOps.
- Lead performance tuning, scalability initiatives, and troubleshooting for high-throughput production systems across all product domains.
- Champion AI-assisted development practices — evaluating emerging tools and driving adoption across engineering teams while maintaining code quality and security standards.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads across teams through technical depth and execution, influencing technology decisions without relying on hierarchy.

Must Have Criteria

- 8–17 years of software engineering experience building and shipping enterprise-grade, large-scale SaaS products.
- Deep expertise in Python and Django/Django REST Framework, building high-performance REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong hands-on experience with React.js and TypeScript for frontend architecture in a full-stack or platform context.




- Proven AWS architecture experience across ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and IAM at production scale.
- Demonstrated track record solving complex scalability, performance, and reliability challenges in distributed, event-driven systems.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong command of PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch — including query optimization, caching strategies, and data modeling.

Nice to Have

- Experience architecting and operating multi-tenant SaaS platforms handling large-scale transactional and analytical workloads.
- Exposure to healthcare technology, dental-domain applications, or other data-intensive regulated verticals.
- Experience driving platform architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Node.js in a polyglot backend environment.
- Active interest in evaluating and adopting emerging AI/ML tooling to accelerate engineering productivity.
