Role Description The Teaching Faculty – Interior Design role is a full-time, on-site position based in Cannanore. The faculty member will design and deliver classroom and studio sessions in interior design, ensuring that course content aligns with academic standards and industry practices.
Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, guiding students through design projects, evaluating assignments and portfolios, and providing constructive feedback to support learning outcomes. The role involves mentoring students on design thinking, technical skills, professional ethics, and career pathways, as well as participating in curriculum development,
academic reviews, and departmental meetings. The faculty member may also contribute to workshops, industry interactions, exhibitions, and other academic initiatives that enhance the learning environment.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in interior design principles, space planning, materials, and building services, with the ability to translate theory into practical studio work.
Proficiency in design software commonly used in the interior design industry (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Photoshop or equivalent visualization tools).
Experience in academic instruction or training, including lesson planning, classroom management, student assessment, and mentoring.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly to diverse learners.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, academic projects, and institutional initiatives.
Relevant academic qualification in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related discipline (Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred).
Industry experience in interior design practice, consultancy, or related fields is highly beneficial.
