About Matters
Matters.AI is a data security platform. We help companies find, classify, and protect their sensitive data across cloud and SaaS environments, so the right information stays protected and nothing critical slips through.
Our platform spans Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Database Activity Monitoring (DAM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Endpoint Security. We are built by a team with deep experience across cybersecurity and enterprise software, and we work with fast-growing companies and large enterprises alike.
Our promise is simple. We protect what matters most.
The role
Our platform runs an AI engine that scans large volumes of structured and unstructured data and decides what is sensitive. No detection system is perfect. Some things get flagged that are not actually a risk, and the quality of the product depends on someone catching those, understanding why they happened, and feeding that back so the engine gets sharper.
That is what you will own. This is a hands-on quality role focused on detection accuracy and false positive analysis. You will be the human check that keeps our detections honest, and you will work closely with me through it.
What you will do
- Review the output of our data classification and entity detection engine across structured and unstructured data.
- Identify, categorize, and clearly document false positives and false negatives.
- Compare what the engine detects against the expected result and track how accurate it is.
- Spot patterns in detection errors and connect them to likely causes.
- Keep clean,
organized QA logs and write-ups that product and engineering can act on quickly.
- Run quality checks after model and rule updates to confirm accuracy held or improved.
- Work alongside the customer success, product, and engineering teams to close the loop on issues.
Who we are looking for
- Early in your career, detail obsessed, and genuinely analytical.
- Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets, and patient enough to dig into edge cases.
- A transparent writer. You can explain what went wrong and why in a way anyone can follow.
- Curious about how AI classification works, and even more curious about why it gets things wrong.
- Interested in cybersecurity, data privacy, or data quality.
- Reliable and organized. You follow through and you own your work.
Nice to have
- Exposure to data analysis, SQL, or basic scripting in Python.
- Awareness of common sensitive data types such as personal data, payment data, and secrets or keys.
- Any prior QA, data annotation, or data labeling experience.
What you will get out of it
- Direct mentorship.
- Real exposure to a fast-moving data security product and live enterprise environments.
- A skill set in detection quality, data classification QA, and accuracy analysis that maps cleanly to full-time analyst, QA, and detection roles.
- A real title and a real body of work you can carry into your next role.
The details
- Type: Internship.
- Location: HSR Layout, Bangalore. This is an in-office role.
- Hours: Aligned to US business hours, covering the overlap between EST and PST. In India this is an evening to night shift. Please apply only if you are comfortable with that.
