ABOUT THE PROJECT A leading US EdTech company has engaged Cloudbird Digital to upgrade existing K–12 learning materials across 30 states. The project covers Grades 3 through High School in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The client provides content blueprints, Depth of Knowledge (DOK) specifications, and alignment guidelines. Our team combines AI-assisted tools with human SMEs to execute at scale, maintaining rigorous standards-alignment and pedagogical quality throughout.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As an SME, you will review, revise, and produce curriculum content that meets the client’s blueprint specifications. You will work closely with Cloudbird’s Curriculum Lead, AI Content Specialists, and Quality Reviewers to ensure every deliverable is standards-aligned, grade-appropriate, and pedagogically sound. You will independently produce alignment documentation, content briefs, and quality reports as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and revise AI-assisted draft content against client blueprints, DOK levels, and alignment guidelines.
- Develop original items, passages, stimuli, or instructional materials where drafts fall short of quality benchmarks.
- Produce alignment documentation mapping content to CCSS, NGSS, or applicable state standards.
- Write and submit content briefs that clearly articulate learning objectives, DOK level, and standard citation.
- Complete quality review reports flagging content issues, bias concerns, or alignment gaps.
- Collaborate with the QA team to resolve review feedback within agreed turnaround windows.
- Maintain consistency of voice, rigour, and grade-level appropriateness across assigned grade bands.
- Participate in calibration sessions to align on style, scoring guides,
and item-writing conventions.
- Meet sprint deadlines and communicate blockers proactively to the Curriculum Lead.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a relevant content area.
- Experience producing or reviewing K–12 curriculum content for a publisher, edtech company, or district.
- Robust, hands-on knowledge of CCSS (Math & ELA) across Grades 3–12 — able to map content to standards without reference aids.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of NGSS (Science) across Grades 3–12 — including disciplinary core ideas, science & engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts.
- Demonstrated familiarity with Depth of Knowledge (DOK) frameworks and ability to design items at specified DOK levels.
- Strong written communication — able to produce alignment documents, content briefs, and quality reports independently and clearly.
- Experience working within structured blueprints and style guides with high fidelity.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for document collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Classroom teaching experience at the relevant grade band (elementary, middle, or high school).
- Prior experience on large-scale state assessment, textbook, or digital curriculum projects.
- Familiarity with state-specific Social Studies or Science frameworks (e.g., TEKS, NGLS, C3 Framework).
- Experience with AI-assisted content workflows and ability to provide structured editorial feedback on AI drafts.
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility considerations in curriculum materials.
- Familiarity with item types common in adaptive or digital learning environments (drag-and-drop, evidence-based selected response, technology-enhanced items).
