Mechanical Automation

Engineer shall be responsible for leading interdisciplinary team of engineers and develop automated machine concepts to specifications for all equipment including purchased and manufactured components. The right candidate will work with various internal and external departments including Sales, Application Engineering, Proposals and Estimating, Manufacturing to ensure the project is completed within scope, budget, and time. Candidate must be hands on and takes active working responsibility for critical items of project.

Education Experience B.E/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering with around 6+ years of total experience

Desired Candidates

- Engineering Skills – Engineering mechanics, strength of materials design principles.
- Practical approach (not textbook) to problem solving with knowledge of thumb rules, hand calculations.
- At the very least, candidate must have led 3 industrial automation projects from concept to commissioning (including requirement gathering, preparing concepts, working with client for DAP approvals, working with Electrical and controls team, commissioning onsite)
- Core experience in selecting automation components/technologies viz. Indexers, specifying conveyors of different types, modular pneumatics, pick and place systems including grippers, Articulated or parallel robots (selection and specifications),



End effectors/Robotic grippers’ design, gantry systems, experience in cobots is an added advantage, integration of vision systems, linear motion products.
- Experience of some of common automating operations such as Sort, Stack/unstack, Locate, Store, Convey, Pick and Place, Tend, Track, Pack, Kitting and light assembly, Palletizing and depalletizing.
- Experience in conceptualizing and designing special or general-purpose automation systems for various applications, motor power calculation, Gear box selection, standard machine components.
- Applied knowledge of European machinery directives 2006/42/EC and UL standards, CE requirements
- Very good understanding of Kinematics, hydraulic and modular pneumatics.
- Knowledge of multiple suppliers for automation components with acumen to Choose the right component at right price.
- Knowledge or experience in RFIDs, AMR/AGVs, wireless and remote technology, voice activation shall be an added advantage.
- Understanding of FEA analysis and reports is an added advantage.
- Valuable understanding of Manufacturing processes including post-production processes and machine building components.
- Knowledge in GDT, stack up analysis.




- Hands on experience on the 3D modeling software Creo with good knowledge of other software’s like SolidWorks / Pro-E / Autodesk Inventor.
- Excellent communication skills and good team working skills.
- Willing to travel overseas for short and long assignments.

- Participate hands-on and oversee design, detail, BOMs, design reviews and check of all aspects of the mechanical design package.
- Activities include assisting in the creation of proposal models, drawings and sketches during the quotation phase.
- Work with supervisors and sales to fully understand scope of work, project requirements, timelines project schedules to develop cost effective and innovative solutions.
- Understand and apply GDT to drawing package as required by technical specifications and/or project requirements.
- Actively leading kick-off meetings with the assigned project team.
- Work with internal and external vendors to Make and test functional prototypes of new components including component changes and design improvements.
- Ensure that all designs and concepts follow current safety standards.
- Ensure that actual design costs are within the estimated project design costs.
- Work towards meeting project milestones including budgets, schedules and project timelines.
- Responsible for planning and implementing all internal design reviews, external customer design reviews and project handover to manufacturing.
- Work with manufacturing and operations to align engineering with assembly and machining capabilities.
