As we scale our Chennai engineering center, this role sits at the heart of that growth.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who has done the hardest thing in engineering leadership: scaled an organization from its first engineer to a

200-person team without losing velocity, quality, or culture. You will play a foundational role in building GridConnect's Chennai engineering organization as the global delivery engine for Valantor's Visual Intelligence platform.

This is not a pure people-management role. You will lead teams, set technical direction as a full-stack architect, and still write code — with the expectation that your work sets the quality bar for everyone else. You will own the product development cycle end to end, from raw idea through architecture, build, launch,

and iteration in market, and you will operate with significant autonomy:



we will give you the destination, and we expect you to chart the course with minimal input.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Build, scale, and lead high-performing engineering teams in Chennai — hiring,

mentoring, and developing engineers across levels as the organization grows
- Establish and protect a strong engineering culture: ownership, craftsmanship,

candour, and shipping discipline
- Drive the full product development lifecycle from concept to production,

collaborating closely with Valantor's US-based product, engineering, and leadership teams
- Contribute directly as a senior full-stack engineer and architect — designing systems, reviewing code, and shipping features on an enterprise AI platform
- Champion AI-first development practices across the team: AI-assisted coding,

code review, and testing workflows that raise both speed and quality
- Define engineering processes, standards, and metrics that scale from a handful of engineers to hundreds
- Take projects from ambiguous brief to delivered outcome with minimal direction,

keeping global stakeholders informed along the way

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 5+ years as an Engineering Manager, with additional prior experience as a senior individual contributor
- Proven experience scaling an engineering organization from ~1 to ~200 engineers





(or a comparable order-of-magnitude journey), including the org design, hiring,

and process evolution that requires

- Deep understanding of the full product development cycle — from idea validation through architecture, delivery, launch, and in-market iteration
- Strong hands-on capability as a full-stack engineer and software architect; you can still design and build production systems yourself
- Demonstrated mastery of AI-first coding processes — you use AI tooling as a force multiplier, and your own pull requests are consistently near-defect-free
- Track record of building durable engineering cultures that retain great people and sustain quality at scale
- Self-directed operator: able to drive complex projects with minimal input or supervision
- Native-level English fluency, written and spoken — you will work daily with US-

based stakeholders and set the standard for documentation
- Willing to work in a hybrid mode, with the office based primarily in Chennai

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with AI/ML platforms, LLM-based products, RAG pipelines, or document intelligence systems
- Experience building or working within global delivery / GCC / captive center models serving a US parent
- Exposure to regulated-industry requirements (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) and secure deployment models (private cloud, on-premise, air-gapped)
