About Astrobase Space Technologies Astrobase is a pioneering spacetech startup founded by prominent Senior ISRO scientists and IIT Bombay alumni with over 20 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, testing and flying advanced Cryogenic Launch Vehicles. Driven by a vision to make India a Space tech powerhouse, we are developing innovative launch vehicles that will transform space exploration.
At Astrobase, you’ll be part of a team creating history in the Indian space industry. Our goal is to become the first private space company from India to land on the moon economically.
BRIEF DECRIPTION
Lead the development of high-reliability servo drive and control electronics for DC servo motor-based actuation systems in aerospace environments. Own end-to-end hardware design, analysis, implementation, and qualification of flight-critical control electronics. Collaborate across systems to ensure precise, robust, and certifiable closed-loop actuation performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement servo drive electronics for DC servo motor-based actuation systems
- Develop robust control logic using embedded processors or FPGAs for real-time position, speed, and current control
- Architect and design analog and digital circuits: signal conditioning, gate drive, current sensing, protection, and power supply sections
- Perform detailed hardware analysis: derating, SI/PI, thermal, lightning, and stability/sensitivity (per aerospace standards like DO-254/DO-160)
- Integrate and validate sensor feedback loops (Hall, resolver / encoder, LVDT) for closed-loop control
- Prepare detailed schematics, BOM, and test plans; coordinate with PCB and manufacturing teams for board realization
- Drive EMI/EMC compliance, environmental testing, and documentation for aerospace qualification
- Collaborate with systems, avionics, and actuation teams to define and verify interface requirements
- Own board bring-up, functional testing, HIL validation, and support system integration Minimum Requirements
- Strong background in servo drive design and control electronics for DC servo motors
- Proficient in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design, embedded control, and gate drive circuits
- Experience in power electronics, MOSFET/IGBT/IGP selection, and motor speed/current control
- Tools: LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium/KiCAD, Zuken, Signal Integrity tools, Ansys/Cadence (for analysis)
- Knowledge of DO-254, DO-160, and aerospace hardware V&V; practices
- Exposure to CAN, RS-422, SPI, UART, RS485, Ethernet /TSN and deterministic communication for actuation
- Strong grasp of EMI/EMC, power supply design (SMPS, flyback), and certification testing
- Well versed in embedded hardware development for aerospace or safety-critical systems
- Hands-on with hardware testing tools: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, current probes, etc.
