The Senior Merchandiser Product Development is responsible for managing the product development process for woven garments from concept to order confirmation. The role involves coordinating with buyers, design, sourcing, sampling, planning, and production teams to ensure timely development, accurate costing, and successful commercialization of styles while meeting customer quality and delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end product development for woven garments.
- Coordinate with buyers to understand product requirements, specifications, and timelines.
- Review tech packs, identify development requirements, and communicate with cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate sample development, including proto, fit, size set, pre-production, and salesman samples.
- Work closely with fabric and trim sourcing teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Prepare accurate garment costing in collaboration with sourcing and commercial teams.
- Track the product development calendar and ensure all milestones are achieved on time.
- Coordinate with design, pattern, CAD, technical, quality, and production teams during development.
- Attend fit sessions and ensure fit comments are implemented accurately.
- Resolve development issues related to fabrics, trims, construction, quality, and costing.
- Ensure all buyer comments are addressed before bulk production approval.
- Maintain product development records, critical path reports, and buyer communication.
- Support order confirmation and smooth handover to the bulk merchandising/production team.
- Drive process improvements to enhance development efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel Production, Textile Technology, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in woven garment merchandising/product development.
- Experience handling international apparel buyers.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of woven garment construction and manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of fabrics, trims, garment costing, and sourcing.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Solid coordination and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of ERP/PLM systems is an added advantage.
