The India Head Office will work directly with UK Directors, Store Managers, employees, payroll providers and professional HR advisers, supporting live UK retail businesses across recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, workforce administration and HR compliance.
This is not a call-centre or routine processing role. We are creating a modern, clean and professional office environment where experienced employees are trusted with meaningful responsibility, direct access to senior decision-makers and genuine opportunities for long-term career progression.
ROLE SUMMARY The Senior HR & Recruitment Specialist will manage recruitment, onboarding, employee administration and day-to-day HR coordination for Henley Retail Group’s UK retail businesses and India Head Office.
The role will support Directors and Store Managers with recruitment, absence, attendance, performance, disciplinary, grievance and employee-relations processes.
The successful candidate will maintain accurate records, prepare professional documentation and implement advice received from the company’s UK HR advisers. The postholder will not be expected to provide independent legal advice.
This is a standalone specialist position. The successful candidate must be capable of managing the role independently without constant supervision.

- Maintain accurate records covering holidays, sickness, absence, probation, performance, training and employment changes.
- Support Store Managers with recruitment, interviews, return-to-work meetings, attendance and routine people-management matters.
- Coordinate disciplinary, grievance, investigation,
performance and employee-relations meetings in line with approved HR advice.
- Prepare professional HR letters, meeting notes, investigation records and case documentation.
- Ensure all employee matters are handled fairly, consistently, confidentially and with a complete audit trail.

- Experience working with UK employment processes or supporting a UK, European, US, Australian or other international organisation.
- Experience using English as the main language for meetings, telephone calls and professional correspondence.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Experience supporting a multi-site retail, hospitality, service or operational workforce is strongly preferred.

REQUIRED CANDIDATE STANDARD Henley Retail Group requires a mature, professional, intelligent and independently capable HR specialist.
This role is not suitable for someone who simply agrees with management,
avoids difficult conversations, waits to be managed or accepts information without checking it.
The successful candidate must think critically, assess evidence, ask appropriate questions and challenge decisions or assumptions respectfully, including those made by Store Managers and Directors, when something appears incorrect, unfair, incomplete or unlikely to work.
The candidate must
- Manage their own time, workload, priorities and schedule without close supervision.
- Take full responsibility for their work and follow matters through to completion.
- Remain fair, discreet and evidence-led when handling sensitive employee matters.
- Ask questions and investigate properly rather than accepting incomplete explanations.
- Raise risks and concerns early and recommend practical solutions.
- Communicate confidently with employees, Store Managers, professional advisers and UK Directors.
- Handle difficult and necessary conversations without avoiding the issue.
- Be honest and accountable, particularly when mistakes or sensitive problems arise.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.
- Demonstrate a stable employment history, personal commitment and a genuine desire to build a long-term career with Henley Retail Group.
- Remain calm, organised and professional when dealing with competing priorities or difficult employee matters.
These requirements are essential and will be tested throughout the recruitment process.

- Accurate contracts, employee records and HR documentation.
- Professional and timely onboarding of new employees.
- Employee-relations matters are properly documented and progressed.

- Payroll-ready employee information is accurate and submitted on time.
- Sponsor Licence and right-to-work records remain complete and audit-ready.
- Store Managers receive explicit, practical and professional HR support.
- Employment risks are identified before they become larger problems.
- Recruitment delays are reduced and employee retention improves.
