Senior HTML Email Developer

Experience Level: Senior (5+ Years)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior HTML Email Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying responsive HTML email templates using hand-coded HTML and inline CSS. In this role, you will build complex, responsive email templates, implement personalization and dynamic content logic, and ensure flawless rendering across all major email clients and devices. You will work closely with design, campaign operations, and project management teams to enforce strict QA standards and SLA timelines.

Key Responsibilities

HTML & CSS Development

- Hand-code pixel-perfect, responsive HTML email templates using table-based layouts and inline CSS.
- Implement dynamic personalization, conditional display logic, and targeted content blocks using standards-based HTML and CSS techniques.
- Build, configure, and maintain modular, reusable HTML email components and template libraries.
- Ensure strict adherence to fluid/hybrid coding standards, Dark Mode optimization, and email accessibility best practices (WCAG/ADA).

Quality Assurance & Rendering

- Perform rigorous cross-client testing using platforms like Litmus or Email on Acid, ensuring consistent rendering across Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, and mobile environments.
- Generate and archive proof-of-rendering assets (proof sends, rendering previews) for validation and sign-off.
- Troubleshoot complex rendering issues and deliverability bugs prior to deployment.





Process & Stakeholder Collaboration

- Work with Project Managers and Campaign Ops to review briefs, assess technical feasibility, and estimate effort/ETAs accurately.
- Follow structured Change Management protocols for scope revisions, updating delivery schedules accordingly.
- Proactively identify technical risks or system limitations and escalate them ahead of critical SLA windows.

Required Qualifications & Skills Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in HTML/CSS email development.

Technical Proficiency

- Master-level knowledge of hand-coded HTML, table-based layouts, and inline CSS tailored for email rendering engines.
- Strong expertise in building modular, reusable email template architecture and dynamic content logic.
- Deep understanding of responsive/fluid-hybrid design, Outlook workaround techniques, and Dark Mode coding.

Tooling & QA

- Proficiency with Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar preview and testing platforms.

Process & Soft Skills

- Familiarity with SLA-driven delivery, client-facing sign-off workflows, and structured QA tracking.
- Transparent verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with interactive email elements (AMP for Email, CSS animations).
- Familiarity with one or more email service provider (ESP) platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, HubSpot, Mailchimp).
- Basic understanding of templating/scripting languages used for email personalization (e.g., Handlebars, Liquid, or similar).

Basic understanding of SQL and XML/JSON data structures used to drive personalized content
