About Cidroy
Cidroy builds mission-critical software for enterprises, industrial, and high-security environments, spanning enterprise platforms, real-time monitoring systems, and complex data-intensive applications where correctness and reliability aren't optional.
The Role
You'll work on a large-scale water infrastructure monitoring platform that tracks water from source through city zones and reservoirs to consumers, built on live SCADA telemetry (flow, pressure, quality, geolocation). This isn't a CRUD-and-dashboard role: you'll design the data models, process high-frequency telemetry, integrate with third-party SCADA systems, and build the APIs and dashboard that turn raw sensor data into trusted insights like leakage detection and NRW. You'll work directly with the founding team in a high-ownership environment.
What You'll Own
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design scalable relational data models for hierarchical infrastructure and optimize queries as telemetry volumes grow.
- Build efficient storage and query strategies for high-frequency time-series and geospatial data.
- Develop APIs that power real-time monitoring, leakage detection, pressure analysis, and NRW reporting.
- Contribute to frontend development of operational dashboards, including charts, maps, and drill-down experiences.
- Build resilient integrations that gracefully handle delayed, malformed, duplicate, or missing telemetry from third-party SCADA systems.
- Deploy and manage applications using Docker and modern development workflows.
- Diagnose performance, data quality, and reliability issues across the complete application stack.
Must-Have
Backend Engineering
- 5–7+ years building production backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL (or equivalent relational databases), including schema design, indexing, and query optimization on production-scale datasets.
- Experience designing systems that process high-volume event, telemetry, or sensor-style data.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, scalable backend architecture, and distributed system fundamentals.
Full-Stack Engineering
- Professional experience with React or Next.js, including building or extending data-intensive dashboards.
- Strong understanding of how backend architecture and data models influence frontend performance and user experience.
Engineering Practices
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across databases, backend services, integrations, and frontend applications.
- Comfortable working with evolving requirements, taking ownership, and making sound technical decisions.
Valuable to Have
- Experience with time-series databases such as TimescaleDB or InfluxDB.
- Experience with geospatial databases and tooling such as PostGIS or GIS mapping libraries.
- Exposure to SCADA, MQTT, OPC UA, or other industrial telemetry protocols.
- Experience building monitoring, observability, or operational dashboards (Grafana or custom-built).
- Experience in utilities, infrastructure, IoT, industrial automation, or similar domains.
- Familiarity with mapping libraries such as Mapbox, Leaflet, or MapLibre.
What Strong Looks Like Here
- You look at a hierarchy like City → Zone → Sub-zone → Reservoir and immediately think about how to model it so aggregation queries remain efficient as data grows.
- You design systems assuming telemetry will sometimes be delayed, malformed, duplicated, or missing, not perfectly clean.
- You can trace a problem from a raw sensor reading to the dashboard and identify where the data stopped making sense.
- You understand the difference between a dashboard that simply looks correct and one that is operationally trustworthy because the underlying data is reliable.
- You think about correctness, maintainability, and performance together, not as trade-offs to address later.
Who This Is Not For
- Engineers whose experience is limited to dashboards built on clean, pre-validated datasets.
- Developers looking for a purely frontend or purely backend role.
- Candidates who prefer highly prescriptive tickets over solving evolving engineering problems.
- Engineers whose experience is primarily limited to tutorials, prototypes, or small proof-of-concept applications.
