Sr.Engineer-Engines AD Job Purpose Support development, optimization, validation, and release of MPFI/ TGDI gasoline engine and vehicle calibrations to achieve vehicle performance, drivability, emissions, fuel economy, OBD, durability, and regulatory compliance targets.
Responsibilities &
- Key Deliverables 1.
Engine Calibration
Development Execute steady-state and transient engine calibration activities.
Support combustion optimization activities including spark timing, air-fuel ratio, injection timing, injection quantity, and torque structure calibration.
Support development of air-path calibration including throttle control, airflow estimation, manifold filling models, and torque management.
Assist in exhaust after-treatment calibration development to achieve emission compliance targets.
Develop calibration maps and strategies under guidance. 2.
Vehicle Calibration
Development Support vehicle-level calibration development for Drivability, Launch performance, Tip-in / Tip-out response, Idle stability, Transient torque response, Cruise Control, Start-stop functionality, Environmental compensation, Cold start and warm-up, Participate in subjective and objective vehicle evaluations.
- Emissions &
- OBD Development Support emission calibration activities to meet Bharat Stage, Euro and other applicable regulations.
Execute emission test plans on engine dynos, chassis dynos and vehicles.
Support OBD monitor calibration and diagnostic validation activities.
Analyze emission and diagnostic data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Testing &
- Validation Conduct engine dyno, chassis dyno and vehicle tests.
Collect, process and analyze calibration data.
Generate calibration reports and test summaries. 5.
Vehicle Systems
Integration Support integration activities involving EMS,Transmission Control Unit, Vehicle Control Functions, Thermal Management Systems, Electrical &
- Electronic Systems Participate in issue resolution activities with cross-functional teams. 6.
Problem
Solving &
- Root Cause Analysis Investigate development, build & field issues using structured methodologies.
Support root cause analysis throug 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis Implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness. 7.
Project
Execution Execute assigned tasks according to project timelines.
Maintain activity trackers and report progress periodically.
Functional
Competencies/Skills Required 1. Basic understanding of engine architecture 2. Basic understanding of combustion system and emission control. Effects of combustion hardware on performance and emission.
- Knowledge of calibration softwares ETAS INCA MATLAB/Simulink * AVL Concerto/Puma 4. Basic coding skills in Matlab and /or Python 5. Knowledge of vehicle sub systems which affect vehicle performance parameters 6. Knowledge of steady state engine development on engine bench 7. Knowledge of EMS system component selection and evaluation methods 8. Knowledge of vehicle calibration, comfort functions, drivability, IOBD etc 9. Understanding of Intake, exhaust,
cooling and fuel system interfaces on engine performance and emissions.
- Failure analysis, root cause analysis 11.
