Research Scientist
As a Research Scientist, you will conduct applied and foundational research at the intersection of Generative AI and Application/Software Security, translating cutting-edge research into powerful capabilities that strengthen our products. You will be expected to publish research papers and file patents based on your work, helping build the organization's research portfolio and intellectual property.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct applied and foundational research on the use of Generative AI for Application and Software Security, including secure code generation, automated vulnerability detection, threat modeling, fuzzing, and remediation.
- Design, prototype, and evaluate novel GenAI/ML-based approaches to strengthen the security of software products and the software development lifecycle.
- Propose solutions and strategies to tackle security and product challenges using Generative AI and ML.
- Operationalize and architect GenAI/ML-based security solutions into production-grade products, working closely with engineering and security teams.
- Author and publish research papers in reputed peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
- Identify novel ideas and file patents based on original research and inventions.
- Track and evaluate emerging research in Gen AI, LLMs, and application security to keep the research roadmap current.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- PhD in Computer Science (or a closely related field) from a premier institute — IIT, IISc, IIIT, ISI, or an equivalent foreign university.
- Demonstrated experience in Generative AI and its applications, e.g., large language models, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic systems.
- Experience or strong research background in Application Security and/or the application of Generative AI to Software Security — for example automated vulnerability detection, secure code generation, threat modeling, fuzzing, or augmenting SAST/DAST tools. PhD research or prior work experience in this area will be a strong plus.
- Track record of, or clear potential for, publishing research papers in reputed peer-reviewed conferences/journals and filing patents.
- Ability to prototype statistical analysis and modeling algorithms and apply them to novel problems in Gen AI and software security.
- Software development skills in Python, and familiarity with modern ML/Gen AI frameworks and tools (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, scikit-learn).
- Knowledge of MLOps / LLMOps pipelines for taking research prototypes to production.
- Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning techniques in one or more areas of statistical modeling methods
- Anomaly detection
- Regression, classification, clustering
- Deep learning
- Natural language processing / LLMs
- Solid oral and written communication skills, including presentation and technical writing skills for research publications.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
