About UGRA Research

UGRA Research is an independent geopolitical and market intelligence institution. We map global and domestic events into concrete financial and behavioural consequences for decision-makers in India — investors, founders, executives, and operators. We're small, intentionally so, and responsible about the work. Our flagship product, UGRA WATCH, is a free open-source intelligence (OSINT) brief read by serious India-based readers and globally aware ones.

UGRA MEMO sits on top of it — paid, deeper research. We also take on bespoke work for a small set of clients. We're not a content farm, not a newsletter aggregator, and not a stock-tips service. We're an intelligence institution. If you're looking for a different vibe, keep scrolling.

UGRA works with a close network of independent researchers and analysts operating under strict confidentiality. You'd be stepping into that environment — not as a cog, but as someone we actively want to think alongside us.

The Environment You're Walking Into

UGRA is an institution in its early stages — built deliberately, not rushed. You'll be working directly inside the research function, alongside people who care deeply about the craft of intelligence. You'll see how an actual intelligence shop operates, from sourcing to final product, and you'll be trusted with real work from day one.

This is a collaborative environment, not a top-down one. You have full freedom on how you approach your work. You choose which sources to monitor. You decide how to structure the daily brief. You can pitch topics you think UGRA should go deep on — and if your reasoning is solid, you'll get the green light. We want your thinking, not just your hours.

Think of this as a learning-together experience. You bring curiosity and rigor; we bring methodology, framework, and access. The expectation runs both ways — we teach you the craft, you push our thinking. The best research happens when people think alongside each other, not when one person hands instructions and another executes.

We're strict about confidentiality. Everything you see — sources, drafts, client work — stays inside UGRA. Non-negotiable. You'll sign an NDA and IP assignment before day one.

We trust you with real access; we expect you to protect it.

What You'll Actually Do

- Daily OSINT brief: Monitor sources (news, regulatory, geopolitical, macro) and produce a 10-item brief for review. You decide what matters. The team decides what to do with it.
- Source collection for WATCH: Upcoming UGRA WATCH topics will be assigned to you in advance. You build the source map. The writing happens above your work.
- Fact-checking and verification: Drafts come to you before they ship. You catch the errors. UGRA's quality bar starts here.
- One stretch project: During the 3-month term, you'll do one full research briefing on a topic assigned to you. Direct feedback, direct iteration. This is where the learning compounds.

What You Won't Do
- You won't write under the UGRA name. Published work belongs to the institution. If you need a byline, this isn't the role.
- You won't contact clients, leads, or anyone external. Zero external communication.
- You won't see client/retainer work. There's a confidentiality wall there and it doesn't move.

What You'll Learn
- OSINT methodology — not just "searching for things," but source mapping, verification chains, structured intelligence
- Consequence-first analytical framework — UGRA's core methodology and the thing that makes us different
- How an intelligence institution actually works — not theory, not a course. The real workflow, the real decisions, the real trade-offs.
- How to think — this is the real prize. The sources, the frameworks, the writing — those are the vehicles.

We're not pretending we have everything figured out. We're building this institution in real time, and you'll see the messy parts too — the questions we're working through, the calls we get wrong, the way good research actually gets made. That's part of the learning.

The neat version you see in courses isn't how the work happens.

Who We're Looking For

Honestly: we don't know who you are yet. You might be a student, you might be working, you might be a dropout. We don't care about your credentials, your college, or your GPA. We care about:

- You genuinely read. Not for content — for understanding how things work.
- You can write clearly. Not academically. Not corporately. Just clearly.
- You can work independently and bring ideas, not just execute tasks.
- You care about consequences, not just events. "What happened" is journalism. "So what" is UGRA.
- You're here to learn together with us, not to be taught at. Big difference.

Commitment & Compensation Time commitment: 8–10 hours per week. 3 months. Remote. Flexible hours - we don't care when you work, only that the work gets done.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. The role is structured as a 3-month craft apprenticeship inside an intelligence institution. Your compensation is direct training in OSINT methodology, consequence-first analytical framework, and inside exposure to how an intelligence shop actually works.

You'll get direct feedback, real work, and the satisfaction of seeing your research shape the final product. You'll also get something rarer — the experience of building something serious alongside people who care about it.

Performance is reviewed at the end of the 3-month term. Top performers may be offered a paid part-time role (₹15,000–25,000/month, 15 hrs/week), conditional on UGRA's business needs at that time. Conversion to paid is not guaranteed — it is earned through output quality, reliability, and fit. We know this is a hard deal. We've been in your position. This is the offer if you genuinely want to learn the craft — with us, not from us.

We're genuinely excited to open this role. Building the commercial side of an intelligence institution is a different kind of challenge — less visible than the research, but just as important. The person who comes in at this stage will help shape how UGRA reaches the people it's meant to serve. If that's the kind of work that interests you, we'd love to hear from you.
