Job Summary
The Remote Field Services (RFS) Manager - India Offices serves as the functional manager for project employees supporting construction activities remotely. The role is accountable for helping these employees succeed by ensuring they can visualize the jobsite, understand project execution priorities, use approved digital tools and workflows, and contribute to expedited construction issue resolution and inspections. This manager coordinates training and development, monitors performance, supports adoption of remote construction workflows, and acts as a primary point of contact for governance, escalation, and alignment with project objectives.
Major Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day coordination of India-based Remote Field Services (RFS) activities supporting global construction projects.
- Serve as the functional manager for India office personnel, including workload planning, performance management, employee development, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate onboarding, training, and capability development programs to prepare employees for remote construction support roles.
- Ensure personnel understand project execution priorities, construction requirements, applicable procedures, and support expectations.
- Coordinate and assign remote support activities, including inspections, technical issue resolution, progress verification, documentation support, and other approved remotable tasks.
- Facilitate effective jobsite visualization through 3D models, reality capture, 360 imagery, video collaboration, digital delivery platforms, and related technologies.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of remote construction workflows.
- Act as the primary India office focal point for RFS governance, staffing coordination, performance concerns, training needs, and issue escalation.
- Promote consistent use of approved digital tools, construction automation systems, visualization technologies, and documentation practices.
- Coordinate with Construction Automation, PIIM, and IS&T; teams to ensure employees have appropriate access, connectivity, training, and technical support.
- Support integration of Remote Expert technologies,
digital delivery solutions, advanced visualization tools, and connected device workflows into construction processes.
- Identify lessons learned, adoption challenges, and process improvement opportunities, and provide recommendations to project and corporate leadership.
- Drive innovation by identifying practical solutions that improve remote execution, reduce onsite workload, enhance response times, and increase project value.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, cybersecurity, records management, and project documentation requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited program and significant relevant construction experience; or specialized construction management training and extensive practical experience in construction, field engineering, construction supervision, or project execution.
- Prior experience leading teams, coordinating remote or distributed work, implementing construction technology, or supporting digital construction workflows is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting large EPC construction projects or construction office execution teams.
- Experience working with India office teams or global execution offices supporting project delivery.
- Experience with Remote Field Services, Remote Expert, advanced visualization, reality capture, 3D model review, digital delivery, or connected field technologies.
- Experience developing or implementing training programs, adoption plans, work processes, or governance models.
- Experience coordinating work between jobsite teams and remote office-based employees.
- Prior experience managing large teams focused on supporting Construction activities (Constructability,
Productivity, Construction Automation, AWP, etc.)
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong construction experience with a practical understanding of field execution, construction sequencing, constructability, inspections, testing, turnover, and issue resolution.
- Proven ability to lead innovation, implement new processes, and drive adoption of emerging workflows in a construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-discipline and cross-function teams supporting construction activities.
- Strong understanding of how field engineering, construction supervision, engineering, construction automation, and project management interact during project execution.
- Experience coordinating training, onboarding, and development for employees supporting construction or project execution activities.
- Ability to translate jobsite needs into clear remote work assignments, expectations, and deliverables.
- Experience with digital construction tools, model-based review, visualization platforms, field documentation systems, and collaboration technologies.
- Ability to help remote employees interpret project information, visualize jobsite conditions, and provide timely support to field teams.
- Robust communication and coordination skills across offices, time zones, disciplines, and project functions.
- Ability to work in a developing and evolving environment while maintaining accountability, consistency, and alignment with program objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remove barriers, escalate issues appropriately, and improve remote support performance.
- Ability to establish practical governance, communication rhythms, and performance expectations for remote construction support teams.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of taking ownership of a developing role with limited precedent.
