Job Role: PYP Art Teacher (International Baccalaureate)
Location: DLF Phase 1, Gurgaon Kunskapsskolan School, Gurgaon is seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced PYP Art Teacher to inspire young learners through the visual arts within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and the Kunskapsskolan Education (KED) Personalized Learning Programme.
The successful candidate will foster creativity, inquiry, self-expression, and critical thinking by designing engaging learning experiences that encourage students to explore artistic concepts, techniques, cultures, and personal identity. The teacher will nurture every child's artistic potential while promoting the IB Learner Profile attributes and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills. Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, inquiry-based Visual Arts lessons aligned with the IB PYP philosophy.
Integrate visual arts within the PYP Units of Inquiry through meaningful transdisciplinary learning experiences.
Encourage creativity, imagination, experimentation, and innovation using a wide range of artistic media and techniques.
Foster conceptual understanding through exploration of line, colour, texture, form, space, pattern, and composition.
Develop students' observation, reflection, communication, and creative problem-solving skills.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and learning styles.
Create opportunities for students to connect art with culture, history, nature, sustainability, and global perspectives.
Promote student agency by encouraging choice, voice, and ownership of learning.
Curriculum Planning
Collaboratively plan with PYP classroom teachers to integrate art into Units of Inquiry.
Design learning engagements aligned with IB concepts, learner profile attributes, and ATL skills.
Develop annual, unit, and weekly lesson plans based on the IB PYP framework.
Maintain high-quality learning resources and art materials.
Assessment & Reporting
Assess student progress using formative and summative assessment strategies.
Maintain portfolios showcasing students' artistic growth and creative processes.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
Participate in student-led conferences, exhibitions, and parent meetings.
Maintain accurate assessment records and reports.
Learning Environment
Create a safe, inclusive, inspiring, and well-organized art studio/classroom.
Ensure the safe use, storage, and maintenance of art materials, equipment, and resources.
Encourage respect for shared materials and collaborative learning.
Display student artwork throughout the school to celebrate creativity and achievement.
Student Development
Promote confidence, curiosity, resilience, and self-expression.
Encourage appreciation of diverse artistic traditions and cultures.
Foster collaboration, communication, and reflection through creative projects.
Support students in developing independence and lifelong learning habits.
School Responsibilities
Organize art exhibitions, displays, competitions, and creative showcases.
Support school events, assemblies, exhibitions, celebrations, and community projects.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Participate actively in collaborative planning meetings and school committees.
Professional Development
Attend IB PYP workshops and professional learning sessions.
Stay updated with current practices in visual arts education and inquiry-based pedagogy.
Reflect on teaching practices and contribute to the school's culture of continuous improvement.
Collaborate with colleagues to share cutting-edge teaching strategies and best practices. Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Applied Arts, or a related field.
B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
IB PYP training or experience in an IB World School is preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in primary or international schools.
Strong knowledge of child development and inquiry-based learning.
Proficiency in a variety of artistic media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art.
Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
