Proxmox VE Expert / Senior Virtualization Engineer – Mumbai

Location: Mumbai, India (On-site / Hybrid)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE) Expert to join our Mumbai team. You will take ownership of our existing Proxmox infrastructure, diagnose and resolve current configuration issues, and establish robust, production-grade best practices across virtualization, backup, and security layers.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, remediate, and optimize our current Proxmox VE 9.x cluster configuration

Design, implement, and maintain highly available Proxmox VE 9.x environments

Configure, manage, and optimize Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) for reliable, efficient backups and restores

Design and enforce Proxmox Firewall rulesets, network isolation, and security policies

Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring

Document architecture, procedures, and runbooks

Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to the internal team

Support disaster recovery planning and testing

Required Skills & Experience

Extensive hands-on experience with Proxmox VE 9.x (mandatory)

Strong practical expertise with Proxmox Backup Server (PBS)





Proven experience configuring and managing Proxmox Firewall

Deep understanding of Proxmox clustering, Ceph/ZFS storage, high availability, and networking

Solid Linux systems administration skills (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)

Experience troubleshooting complex virtualization and networking issues

Ability to work independently and deliver clear technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Proxmox VE upgrades, migrations, and large-scale deployments

Familiarity with related technologies (Ceph, ZFS, SDN, Terraform/Ansible automation)

Previous experience supporting production environments in enterprise or mid-size organizations
