Product Head – Infrastructure
Function Purpose To lead and grow the Infrastructure Insurance Practice by guiding & advising specialized insurance and risk management solutions for infrastructure projects, driving business development, and providing expert risk advisory support to clients across the project lifecycle.
Role Purpose The Product Head – Infrastructure will be responsible for building and leading the Infrastructure Insurance Practice at ARIBL. The role involves developing insurance strategies and risk management solutions for infrastructure projects across roads, highways, metro rail, airports, ports, railways, bridges, tunnels, smart cities, water supply, wastewater treatment, urban infrastructure, industrial parks, and EPC projects. The incumbent will work closely with project developers, EPC contractors, infrastructure companies, lenders, insurers, reinsurers, and internal teams to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions throughout the project lifecycle—from project planning and construction to operations and maintenance.
Key Expectations of the Role
Product Strategy & Development
Develop and implement the Infrastructure Insurance Practice strategy.
Design customized insurance solutions for infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, concessionaires, and project owners.
Identify emerging industry risks, regulatory developments, and market opportunities.
Develop specialized insurance programs for public and private infrastructure projects.
Business Development
Drive business acquisition across infrastructure, construction, EPC, and project financing sectors.
Support Corporate Sales teams during client meetings, technical presentations, and proposal discussions.
Build long-term relationships with promoters, project directors, CFOs, risk managers, lenders, consultants, and government agencies.
Achieve annual premium, revenue, and profitability targets.
Technical Risk Advisory
Advise clients on project risk assessment and insurance structuring.
Review EPC contracts, concession agreements, financing documents,
and insurance clauses.
Recommend appropriate insurance coverage throughout project execution and operational phases.
Support underwriting and placement of large and complex infrastructure risks.
Insurer & Reinsurer Relationship Management
Develop strong relationships with domestic and international insurers and reinsurers.
Negotiate policy terms, coverage enhancements, deductibles, and pricing.
Coordinate with underwriting teams for customized insurance placements.
Claims Advisory
Support clients during major construction and operational claims.
Coordinate with insurers, surveyors, engineers, legal advisors, and claims specialists.
Ensure timely and effective claims resolution.
Market Intelligence
Track developments in infrastructure policies, government initiatives, and insurance market trends.
Benchmark insurance products against industry best practices.
Recommend cutting-edge risk management solutions aligned with changing project requirements.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the Infrastructure Product Team.
Conduct technical training programs for Sales, Placement, Claims, and Servicing teams.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical manuals, and product documentation.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Sales, Claims, Placement, Legal, Compliance, Risk Engineering, and Operations teams.
Build strategic relationships with infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, consultants, lenders, insurers, and government authorities.
Competencies Required for the Role
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of EB (Health, Life, PA) and Non-EB (Property, Marine, Engineering, Liability, etc.) insurance products,
underwriting principles, and market dynamics.
Negotiation & Influencing: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and manage complex discussions with senior insurer representatives.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align placement strategies with business growth objectives and changing market trends.
Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and sustain high-value relationships with insurers, underwriters, and internal stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Management: Capable of leading a diverse team, setting performance standards, and developing talent.
Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Strong analytical ability to interpret data, assess risk profiles, and recommend optimal placement structures.
Compliance & Governance Orientation: Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks (IRDAI guidelines) and adherence to compliance norms.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with clients, insurers, and internal teams.
Personal Qualifications
Highest Qualification Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Engineering from a recognized university.
MBA (Finance/Operations/Project Management/Infrastructure Management) from a reputed institute.
Preferred Certifications
IRDAI Certification
Associate/Fellow of Insurance Institute of India (III)
PMP (Project Management Professional) – Preferred
Risk Management Certifications (preferred)
Experience
18–22+ years of overall professional experience.
Minimum 12 years of experience in Infrastructure, EPC, Construction, Project Risk Management, Insurance Broking, or General Insurance.
Minimum 5 years in a Product Head, Practice Head, Vertical Head, or Leadership role.
Proven experience in handling insurance programs for infrastructure developers, EPC contractors, concessionaires, engineering companies, project finance institutions, or large infrastructure projects.
