Principle Engineer
- Own the end-to-end strategy, design, and provisioning of enterprise infrastructure and enablement platforms, leveraging cloud, containerization (Docker), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible), and automation to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available engineering services across the organization.

About this role
As an established member of a Hosting team, the Principle Engineer independently delivers, operates, and improves the team's services, with a focused emphasis on designing, building, managing, delivering and influencing those services through code and automation. The role takes ownership of well-defined pieces of work end-to-end and contributes to the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of the team's service domain.
What youll do
- Define and drive the enterprise-wide technical strategy, architecture, and engineering standards across Application, Platform, and Infrastructure Services, ensuring scalable, secure, resilient, and future-ready technology ecosystems.
- Lead the modernization of cloud, platform, and developer enablement capabilities leveraging Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep), automation, and AI-enabled engineering practices.
- Establish and govern reference architectures, platform guardrails, security controls, and engineering best practices across cloud platforms, enterprise identity services, virtualization, applications, and database technologies.
- Own the design, provisioning, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure and platform services, ensuring high availability, performance, compliance, operational excellence, and cost optimization at scale.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic influence to senior stakeholders, product teams, and engineering leaders, aligning technology roadmaps, platform investments, and modernization initiatives with business objectives.
- Champion engineering excellence through automation, observability, DevOps, SRE principles, database and platform reliability, mentorship, and continuous improvement, serving as the highest technical escalation point across the Enablement Services organization.
What youll bring
- Approximately 10+ years of commercial experience in a dedicated engineering role within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
- Code-Driven Practices: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience utilising code-driven methodologies (such as Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, or automated scripting languages) to manage and scale platforms.
- Legacy to Modern Transitions: Direct experience migrating legacy systems or manual operational workflows over to modern, highly automated, and resilient target-state architectures.
- Incident Ownership & SRE Practice: Demonstrated experience leading root-cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implementing permanent engineering fixes to eliminate systemic operational toil.
- Secure Engineering Practice: Proven experience hardening enterprise environments against cyber threats and a track record of successfully driving rapid patch management or vulnerability remediation campaigns in production environments.
- Squad-Based Delivery: Proven experience working within an Agile framework, Product-operating model, or DevOps squad environment, collaborating daily with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to deliver platform features.
