Role & responsibilities

- Dispense psychiatric and general medications accurately as per doctors' prescriptions.

- Review prescriptions for dosage accuracy, drug interactions, contraindications, and patient safety.

- Maintain inventory of psychotropic, narcotic, and other scheduled medications as per statutory regulations.

- Monitor medicine stock levels, expiry dates, storage conditions, and ensure timely replenishment.

- Maintain pharmacy records, dispensing registers, and documentation in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.

- Counsel patients and caregivers on medication usage, dosage, side effects, precautions, and adherence.

- Coordinate with psychiatrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure protected and effective medication therapy.

- Follow NABH standards, infection control protocols, and medication safety practices.

- Participate in medication audits, stock verification, and quality improvement initiatives.

- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and maintain ethical pharmacy practice.

- Handle emergency medication requirements for inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services.

- Use Hospital Information System (HIS) for billing, dispensing,



and inventory management. These responsibilities align with the multidisciplinary, patient-centered model used at Sukoon's psychiatric hospitals

Preferred candidate profile

- B.Pharm or D.Pharm from a recognized institution with a valid State Pharmacy Council registration.

- Experience in a hospital pharmacy;

experience in psychiatric or mental healthcare settings is preferred.

- Sound knowledge of psychotropic medications, drug interactions, and medication safety practices.

- Familiarity with NABH standards, controlled drug regulations, and hospital pharmacy operations.

- Proficient in pharmacy inventory management and Hospital Information System (HIS) software Marg & Myhealthcare.

- Strong communication and patient counselling skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, weekends, and holidays as per hospital requirements.
