Objective:
Rug Designer for home textiles focused on the UK and US export markets, with a strong focus on the Rugs and Bathmats categories. Responsible for translating buyer briefs into innovative designs aligned to UK and US market aesthetics, while working closely with sampling, merchandising and production teams to translate concepts into commercially successful products. Brings expert knowledge of yarns, tufting and knitting techniques to drive original design solutions for international retail accounts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Design Rugs and Bathmats tailored to the aesthetic preferences of the UK and US markets.
- Apply a profound understanding of yarns, tufting and knitting machines for rug and bathmat design with particular emphasis on knitting and tufting expertise.
- Demonstrate expertise across sampling techniques tufting, knitting, weaving, printing, surface design and dyeing ensuring quality and design intent are preserved through to production.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, colour forecasts and material innovations (WGSN, Pantone, Heimtextil, Maison&Objet;, NY Home Textiles) and incorporate them effectively into design projects.
- Use a range of design software Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD tools (NedGraphics, Pointcarre or similar)



and AI design tools to create visually compelling, production-ready designs.
- Produce original artwork with exceptional artistic ability and quick turnaround times to meet buyer development calendars (Walmart, JCPenney, M&S;, Target and other international accounts).
- Maintain detailed attention to the intricacies of tufting, knitting and rug construction, ensuring the highest quality across all designs.
- Apply proven organisational and leadership skills with a proactive and team-oriented approach to project management across sampling, merchandising and production teams.

Job Specifications:
Educational Requirement: -

- Degree in Textile Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or other esteemed institution. Strong portfolio is mandatory.

Work Experience Requirement: -

- Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in the Home Textiles sector preferably in Rugs and Bathmats with a portfolio that highlights expertise in the export market. Strong knowledge of tufting and knitting techniques is highly preferable, indicating an extensive understanding of rug production and design complexities. Proficient in design software (Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). Capable of comprehending buyer requirements and delivering CADs and artwork within set timelines. Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
