Role & responsibilities
Manager Power Management & Renewable Energy ,who is responsible for securing 24x7 reliable, affordable & quality power for company's Western & Northern Region and securing new power connection/load enhancement of existing campuses and securing end-to-end commissioning of Transmission Lines/UG cables from upstream sub-stations to DC campus. They also drives the green agenda of company by tying up Renewable Energy (RE) under long term Captive PPAs for existing and new DC sites complying Electricity Act, Central & State regulations and policies. S(he) also will secure growth headroom for company by completing power feasibility for new site acquisition and by doing regulatory & policy advocacy for power sector (for securing RE) and for DC/IT/ITeS Policy at various states (for securing benefits these policies).
Manager PM & RE (Western & Northern Region) will be responsible for:
- Identifying recent RE generators/power traders
- Preparing draft RFPs/PPAs for increasing RE footprints for Western & Norther Region DCs, shall evaluate the bidders proposal and prepare the PPTs for seeking management approvals for signing agreements (PPA & SSHA) with selected partner
- RE project execution monitoring for under construction RE projects for supplying RE at Western & Norther Region DCs
- PPA Management & extension planning for existing and new PPAs for supplying RE at Western & Norther Region DCs
- Preparing RFP for procuring Renewable Energy Certificates
- DISCOM Green Tariff planning & procurement
- Shall co-ordinate with respective WR &NR; Discoms/Utilities/Transco/SLDC/RE Developers/Power Traders/Power exchanges and various State Government Departments for achieving the desired results.
- Shall keep abreast himself on Open Access Regulations, Renewable Energy Policies, Tariff Orders of Discoms/Transco of Western & Norther Region DCs state where company have their Data Centres.
- Compiling the details and preparing applications for seeking Grid Connectivity approval from TRANSCO and Contract Demand/Load Sanction approval from Discom for both new and existing campuses.
- Candidate should have knowledge of Power Sector Structure in India and its various stakeholders, Electricity Act, Electricity Rules, Policies, Power Procurement Guidelines etc.
- Should have regulatory understanding to summarise orders given by of SERCs/ APTEL/CERC/High Courts/Supreme Court etc time to time wrt various stakeholders of the power sector
- Should have good understanding of various clauses of PPAs and handled power procurement transactions under Bilateral/Captive Structure for Commercial & Industrial consumers including billing, scheduling, settlement of payments etc.
- Should have independently handled the PPA management
- Should have experience to deal with Discoms, SLDCs, RLDCs, Transco, PGCIL etc. for Open Access clearance under Short, Medium and Long Term
- Effectively interacted and negotiate with Power suppliers (renewable and non-renewable),
- Responsible for managing and accurately calculating the monthly power usage pattern
- Analyse complex problems, prepare MIS and various kinds of other reports
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the power market industry, particularly aspects related to generation, transmission, distribution, as well as understanding key energy industry issues, including opportunities, threats and trends.
- Should be able to evaluate techno-commercial bids of Power suppliers (renewable and non-renewable),
- Aware of tariff trends of various RE tenders closed in past by Central & State Utilities
- Good understanding of engineering and economic principles related to Power Sector
- Ability to work as a team player and strive to deliver excellent customer services to both internal and external clients.
- Should have good command on MS Excel and MS Power Point etc
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineer), MBA desirable
- Minimum 8-10 years of related experience with Power Utility/ Power Generator/Power Trader or with Large Power Consumer
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts like Generating Plants, Transmission Line, Power Sub-stations, feeder, HT/LT panel, electrical components
- Ready to travel extensively at all the work locations - approx. 30%-40% of time
- Good relationship and networking with Power sector stakeholders viz; RE Developers, Power Trader, Power Exchange, Power Utilities etc.
- Sound ethical and business judgment while demonstrating creative problem solving and professional communications.
