About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer specialized in robotics to join our dynamic R&D; team. As a senior mechanical engineer, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in structural design, multi-DOF kinematics, and precision actuator integration, with practical experience transforming complex robotic concepts from CAD simulation into highly functional hardware platforms. You will play a pivotal role in leading the mechanical architecture, component selection, and structural optimization for our next-generation humanoid and mobile manipulation platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Architecture & Structural Design: Design and optimize the physical structure, joints, and chassis of complex humanoid and wheeled robotic systems, ensuring optimal weight distribution, stability, and load-bearing strength.
- Kinematics & Actuator Integration: Spearhead the selection, sizing, and hardware integration of precision movement systems (e.g., BLDC motors, high-torque servos, harmonic drives) and plan multi-DOF trajectory mechanics.
- Aesthetic Enclosure & Material Selection: Develop visually compelling, curved body coverings and ergonomic protective shells; evaluate and select advanced metallic (e.g., aluminum profiles) and non-metallic materials (e.g., carbon fiber, 3D-printed polymers) optimized for manufacturing.
- End-to-End Prototyping & Assembly: Manage full lifecycle developmentfrom Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation and vendor coordination to hands-on precision assembly, wiring routing/cable management, and hardware tuning.
- End-to-End Prototyping & Assembly: Manage full lifecycle development—from Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation and vendor coordination to hands-on precision assembly, wiring routing/cable management, and hardware tuning.
- Simulation-Driven Design Validation: Conduct extensive rigid-body dynamics, kinematic simulations, and structural analysis utilizing CAD and simulation environments to refine locomotion and manipulation repeatability before physical deployment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with hardware embedded teams and software controls teams to align mechanical design with locomotion policies, imitation learning pipelines, and multi-sensor configurations (e.g., cameras, LIDAR, IMUs).
- Mentorship & Process Leadership: Lead technical project tasks, streamline goals for junior teammates, establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for algorithm execution, and maintain rigorous engineering documentation for designs and BOMs.
Expertise:
- Robotics CAD Modeling & Simulation: Mastery of SOLIDWORKS for large-assembly management, detailing tolerance stacks, and performing kinematic/dynamic motion analysis.
- Multi-DOF Kinematics & Trajectory Planning: Solid theoretical and practical grasp of rigid-body dynamics,
forward/inverse kinematics, and trajectory planning for complex serial manipulators and bipedal legs.
- Advanced Prototyping & Fabrication: Proficient in hands-on prototyping methodologies, including 3D printing technologies, CNC machining constraints, sheet metal design, and custom test-rig manufacturing.
- Modern Robotic Tools & Simulation Environments: Familiarity with contemporary physics engines and simulation tools—such as Isaac Sim (Reinforcement Learning / locomotion policy training), Gazebo --- for testing robotic controls.
- Vendor & Supply Chain Management: Proven capability in handling procurement cycles, evaluating engineering components, and corresponding with domestic and international fabrication vendors.
- Cross-Disciplinary Integration: Experience working with low-level microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, or microprocessor platforms) to facilitate mechanical hardware-software co-design.
- Strategic Problem-Solving & Leadership: Strong initiative to operate independently in the absence of legacy guidelines, with a proven track record of successfully demonstrating complex physical systems to senior leadership.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
- Relevant Experience: 3 - 5 years of progressive experience leading mechanical design and product development, specifically within humanoid robotics, industrial manipulators, mobile robotics, or advanced automation sectors.
