Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to support a multi-site business environment. The role will focus on firewall, switching, ISP links, VPN, branch connectivity, and network security operations. This is not a desktop-support-only role. The engineer should be able to independently troubleshoot network and firewall issues, coordinate with ISPs/vendors, support branch offices, and maintain proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and troubleshoot Sophos Firewall, including firewall rules, NAT, web policies, IPS, SD-WAN, routing, VPN, RED devices, and firewall HA.
- Support multiple ISP links, internet outages, bandwidth issues, failover, packet loss, port forwarding, and WAN connectivity.
- Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, DHCP, DNS, static routes, policy routes, and access controls.
- Support Cisco and TP-Link managed switches, including VLANs, trunk/access ports, PoE, uplinks, port errors, and basic spanning-tree issues.
- Support Sophos SSL VPN, IPsec VPN, Sophos RED devices, branch connectivity, and PBX/VoIP-related network issues.
- Coordinate with ISPs, firewall vendors, PBX vendors, and hardware providers for incident resolution.
- Support Elastic agent rollout, endpoint visibility, and basic security-agent troubleshooting.




- Assist with approved controls such as USB restrictions, Google Drive/file-sharing controls, VPN/proxy restrictions, and web filtering.
- Maintain firewall, ISP, VLAN, switch, VPN, RED, and network documentation.
- Provide technical inputs for weekly/monthly reports, incident RCA, and change-management records.
- Participate in maintenance windows, failover testing, firmware upgrades, and network improvement activities.

Required Skills

- 3–6 years of hands-on network and firewall support experience.
- Strong experience with Sophos XG/XGS Firewall.
- Good understanding of:
- Firewall rules, NAT, web filtering, application control
- SD-WAN, WAN failover, routing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS
- SSL VPN, IPsec VPN, Sophos RED, firewall HA
- TCP/IP, subnetting, ARP, NAT, packet flow, common ports/protocols
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and managed TP-Link switches.
- Experience troubleshooting ISP links, leased lines, broadband, static IP, port forwarding, and slow internet issues.
- Basic Windows Server and Active Directory understanding.
- Ability to use network troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, route print, packet captures, and switch/firewall CLI.

Preferred Skills

- Sophos Central and Sophos Endpoint.
- Elastic SIEM, or monitoring tools.
- PBX/VoIP basics, including SIP, RTP, QoS, and call-quality troubleshooting.
- Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, or cloud networking exposure.
- CCNA, Sophos certification, Network+, Fortinet, or equivalent certification.

Candidate Profile

- Strong troubleshooting and ownership mindset.
- Able to identify whether an issue is related to ISP, firewall, switch, endpoint, power, vendor, or application dependency.
- Comfortable working in a live business/BPO workplace where network downtime has operational impact.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must document changes, incidents, and RCA properly.
- Willing to support urgent incidents and approved maintenance activities when required.
