The MRD Incharge is responsible for managing the Medical Records Department, ensuring accurate maintenance, confidentiality, storage, retrieval, and timely availability of patient medical records in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Department.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient records.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information.
- Organize filing, indexing, storage, retrieval, and archiving of medical records.
- Monitor completion of inpatient and outpatient records.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for incomplete documentation.
- Oversee ICD coding, disease indexing, and medical record statistics (if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with hospital accreditation standards (e.g., NABH, JCI) and statutory requirements.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR/HIS) and physical records.
- Prepare departmental reports, KPIs, and audit data.
- Train and supervise MRD staff.




- Handle record requests from patients, insurance companies, and legal authorities as per policy.
- Ensure retention and disposal of records according to applicable regulations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Record Science, Health Information Management, Hospital Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Medical Records or Health Information Management is preferred.

Experience

- 37 years of experience in a Medical Records Department, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

Skills

- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding, and healthcare documentation.
- Familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS)/Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Solid organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, confidentiality, and accreditation standards.
