We are looking for a certified MPI Operator to perform Magnetic Particle Inspection of steel and alloy steel castings (500 kg25 MT) to detect surface and near-surface defects and ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MPI on steel and alloy steel castings as per approved procedures and standards.
- Set up and operate yoke, prods, coil/bench magnetising equipment using appropriate techniques and current.
- Conduct wet/dry and visible/fluorescent magnetic particle inspection as required.
- Detect, evaluate and mark defects such as cracks, laps, porosity and inclusions.
- Evaluate indications against applicable acceptance criteria and customer specifications.
- Demagnetise castings after inspection and maintain accurate NDT records and reports.
- Coordinate with QA, Foundry and Methoding teams for recurring defect analysis.
- Follow safe handling practices, PPE requirements and NDT safety procedures.
Required Skills: Good knowledge of MPI techniques, magnetisation methods, defect interpretation, drawings and applicable NDT standards, with robust attention to detail and reporting accuracy.
