Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

- 3-6 years of hands-on experience in testing mainframe applications, including functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing across COBOL, z/OS, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM environments.
- Design, build, and execute comprehensive test strategy, test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned to mainframe application requirements and business processes.
- Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and coverage strategies.
- Perform defect identification, logging, tracking, and resolution in collaboration with development teams, ensuring timely closure within sprint and release cycles.
- Conduct data validation and reconciliation across DB2 databases and VSAM files, ensuring accuracy and integrity of mainframe data outputs.
- Solid grasp of SDLC, Agile, and DevOps as applied to mainframe testing environments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, including the ability to produce transparent test summary reports and defect analysis for stakeholder review.
- Should have worked with Agile methodology and be aware of best practices:
- Awareness of core testing principles and their application within Agile sprints
- Ability to explain the business impact of testing activities on the project currently being delivered
- For a given scenario,



the ability to identify the right questions to ask development and business teams to remove ambiguity in requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Should be able to explain key concepts, challenges, and trends in mainframe testing and have an understanding of technology disruptors specific to the industry.
- Strong team player, able to work closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.

Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

- Experience in both mainframe development support and testing initiatives, providing an end-to-end lifecycle perspective.
- Exposure to test automation frameworks applicable to mainframe environments, including scripting tools such as REXX or Python-based automation.
- Familiarity with advanced DB2 query analysis and batch job validation for performance and optimization testing.
- Demonstrated experience in mentorship, process improvement, and stakeholder management within a testing function.
- Good grasp of AI concepts and recent trends as they apply to test automation and intelligent quality assurance the ability to suggest practical implementation ideas within a project context.
- Experience with defect management and test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or equivalent.
