Lead Developer / Aspiring Architect Java Full Stack

Role Summary - Experience: 6 to 9 years

We are looking for a Senior/Lead Java Developer who is actively aspiring to be a Solution/Technical Architect role. This is a hands-on Independent Contributor position, having excellent hands on experience in developing code every day, owning entire modules from design to delivery, and review confidently on both architecture and implementation decisions. Candidate should have clear, defensible opinions on engineering best practices, a habit of uncovering technical debt and risks early, and the ability to drive, technical direction without needing hand holding. We need someone who works independently but also elevates the team through robust design sense and decision-making.

Must Have Technical Skills:

- Core Java 1.8+, Java EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Batch
- Hibernate, JPA/Spring Data JPA, ORDBMS, PostgreSQL, SQL, NoSQL
- JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack collaboration and code reviews
- JUnit, Mockito, and strong Unit Test (UT) design and architecture practices
- Microservices architecture, REST/SOAP API design and development, API documentation
- Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins
- AWS cloud services: EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, API Gateway, Lambda/Serverless
- Git/Bitbucket, code repository processes, release and deployment processes
- Familiarity with SonarQube, JIRA, Slack, and other engineering productivity tools
- Exposure to SaaS platforms, SSO, and middleware technologies

Primary Responsibilities:

Hands-on Experience:

- Develop high quality, production grade Java/Spring Boot code as a primary individual contributor, not just in a review capacity
- Own the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex modules within microservices based systems
- Build and maintain RESTful/SOAP APIs and microservices ensuring performance, security, and scalability
- Rapidly develop Proof of Concepts (POCs)



and conduct feasibility studies for new technical approaches
- Drive adoption of AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, EC2) for scalable, cloud-native solutions

Design & Architecture Review:

- Review low-level and high-level design proposals from peers, offering clear, opinionated technical direction
- Participate in and constructively challenge architecture decisions, considering performance, security, scalability, high availability, portability, and interoperability
- Apply and enforce appropriate design patterns across services and modules
- Proactively identify architectural risks, technical debt, and scalability bottlenecks before they become blockers
- Contribute to defining and evolving coding standards, Unit Testing strategy, and API design guidelines

Ownership & Collaboration:

- Work independently with minimal hand holding and take ownership of outcomes rather than just tasks
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Engineering Managers, QA, and Product/Business Analysts
- Provide technical estimation input and help validate the feasibility of committed timelines
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and pairing.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and proactively recommend improvements to the existing stack

Desired Attributes:

- Strongly opinionated about clean code, testability, and system design and able to justify those opinions with sound engineering reasoning and to proactive to uncover problems and propose solutions before being asked
- Curious and self-driven, with a genuine interest in evolving into a Solution/Enterprise Architect role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Good to Have:

- Working knowledge of IoT, Fleet Management, or Asset Management domains
- Experience with caching/hashing strategies, JMS, and messaging systems
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and practices

Domain:

Fleet Management, Asset Management, and IoT experience will be a strong plus.
