About the Inventory Hub: By joining the Inventory Optimization Hub within the Global Capability Centre (GCC), you will play a pivotal role in enabling business growth and profitability through smarter planning, sharper analytics, and end-to-end supply chain intelligence. You will support the strategic redesign of merchandise replenishment and planning lifecycles, and accelerate the shift toward automated, intelligence-supported operating models. You will help build advanced planning capabilities that sit at the core of inventory health, demand forecast accuracy, commercial agility, and data-driven decision making, ensuring the delivery of measurable value across the retail value chain.
This is a unique opportunity to join as a founding member of a newly established global hub. Early joiners will influence how next-generation planning systems and analytics shape the business, affecting future ways of working, building critical capabilities, and driving the evolution of some of the organization's most important commercial functions.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys:
- Working across inventory optimization disciplines; demand forecasting, merchandise planning, replenishment strategy, and system integration.

Why this role exists: The Merchandise Transformation Associate provides the analytical engine room for the squad focused on Merchandise Replenishment and Planning. As Officeworks modernizes its operating model, this role solves the challenge of process friction by deep-diving into Supply and Demand data. This role is a data powerhouse, investigating the as-is state of retail mechanics and identifying where manual interventions cause inaccuracy, ultimately turning raw data into actionable insights regarding stock flow and pricing elasticity.
Where you will make a difference: In this role you will: Diagnostic Mapping & Analysis:
- Detailed auditing of current Supply and Demand planning cycles and processes.
- Identify bottlenecks, data gaps, and manual workarounds within the current operating model.
- Investigate the as-is state of planning to pinpoint where manual intervention causes inaccuracy.
Data Visualization & Reporting:
- Create and maintain high-impact dashboards to track critical planning metrics.
- Monitor KPIs such as forecast bias, safety stock levels, availability, replenishment efficiency, and promotional effectiveness.
- Turn raw data into visual insights that provide clarity for the squad and broader merchandise teams.
System Optimization & Process Documentation:
- Assist in the functional design and testing of automated planning logic (RELEX/Planning Systems).
- Ensure system logic reflects the unique needs of the Australian retail market to drive better commercial outcomes.
- Draft clear, concise standard operating procedures (SOPs)
for the Merchandise and Planning teams.
- Ensure new, simplified workflows are adopted consistently across the enterprise.

- Internal Partners: Merchandise Squad, Replenishment and Planning teams, Supply Chain, and IT.
- External Partners: Planning system vendors (e.g. RELAX) and consultants.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years experience in replenishment roles within a retail environment.
- Data Capability: Proven ability to turn raw data into actionable insights and high-impact visualizations.
- Analytical Focus: Sharp eye for retail mechanics, specifically Supply and Demand planning.
- Systems: Familiarity with modern planning systems and automated logic testing.
- Communication: Ability to draft transparent, concise documentation for non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Planning Systems: Familiarity with RELEX is a distinct advantage.
- Retail Context: Deep understanding of the Australian retail market and its unique replenishment needs.
