Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality Tamil language instruction that develops learners' reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and appreciation for Tamil literature and culture while nurturing confidence, discipline, creativity and solid moral values.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred Tamil lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
- Teach Tamil language skills including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Develop learners' grammar, vocabulary, handwriting and comprehension skills.
- Encourage correct pronunciation, fluency and confident communication in Tamil.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning abilities.
- Integrate storytelling, poems, songs, role play and language games to make learning enjoyable.
- Promote higher-order thinking through discussions, creative writing and reading activities.
2. Lesson Planning
- Prepare annual, monthly and weekly lesson plans.
- Develop detailed lesson plans with clear learning objectives and outcomes.
- Ensure timely completion of the prescribed syllabus.
- Prepare teaching-learning materials and visual aids wherever required.
3. Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, disciplined and inclusive classroom environment.
- Ensure learners follow school rules and classroom expectations.
- Encourage respect, responsibility, punctuality and good manners.
- Promote active participation from every learner.
4. Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments.
- Prepare worksheets, class tests, assignments and question papers.
- Evaluate answer scripts fairly and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain assessment records accurately.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic support and provide remediation.

Language Development
- Conduct reading practice regularly.
- Encourage spoken Tamil during language periods.
- Improve handwriting and presentation skills.
- Develop learners' creative writing through essays, stories, letters, dialogues and poems.
- Build vocabulary through word banks and language enrichment activities.
6. Notebook & Academic Monitoring
- Ensure notebooks are neat, complete and regularly corrected.
- Monitor classwork and homework consistently.
- Check handwriting, spellings and grammar.
- Ensure corrections are completed by learners.
7. Student Development
- Foster confidence and a love for the Tamil language.
- Encourage participation in elocution, storytelling, poetry recitation and essay writing competitions.
- Identify and nurture talented learners.
- Motivate reluctant learners through positive reinforcement.
8. Parent Communication
- Maintain professional communication with parents.
- Share learner progress and areas for improvement.
- Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings.
- Support parents in helping learners improve language skills at home.
9. School Responsibilities
- Participate actively in assemblies, school events and celebrations.
- Support language-related programmes and cultural activities.
- Assist in organising competitions, exhibitions and annual events.
- Perform examination duties and invigilation responsibilities.
- Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Principal.
