Provides technical leadership for CPP and utilities section during Pre-FEED, BDEP, and FEED phases of the Syngas-to-SNG project. Develops site-wide power and steam balance; leads technology selection, TBE, and equipment evaluation; ensures technical integrity of CPP and utility deliverables. Manages and coordinates with the technologists. Key Responsibilities
Lead technology selection and evaluation for the CPP — FBC/CFBC boilers, back-pressure and condensing steam turbines, HRSGs, cooling systems, and associated balance-of-plant; establish selection criteria covering thermal efficiency, reliability, fuel flexibility, and environmental compliance
Develop and maintain site-wide utility balance — steam (HP/MP/LP), power, cooling water, fuel gas, compressed air, and nitrogen; match utility supply and demand across normal operation, start-up, turndown, and emergency scenarios. Lead power and steam balance optimisation; evaluate waste heat recovery opportunities from syngas cooling and methanation for steam generation; drive efficiency improvements at the CPP–process interface
Coordinate and manage discipline Technologists; assign work, review outputs, and ensure technical consistency across disciplines
Review licensor technology proposals, process descriptions, and datasheets; challenge technical claims and assess performance guarantees
Lead preparation of Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for boilers, steam turbines, HRSGs, cooling towers, compressors, and other major utility packages; drive licensor selection recommendations
Review Pre-FEED deliverables (process basis, heat & mass balances, technology selection reports)
Lead PFD and P&ID; review; ensure completeness, technical accuracy, and operability
Lead and coordinate HAZID and HAZOP; ensure all actions are documented and closed
Review and approve BDEP and FEED deliverables for CPP and utilities section
Review and approve equipment specifications, process design basis, and vendor data for CPP and utility equipment — boilers, turbines, cooling systems, compressed air, and nitrogen generation
Identify long lead equipment; provide technical inputs for equipment specifications and procurement strategy
Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation disciplines on power distribution, switchgear sizing, and control philosophy for the CPP
Interface with Configuration Optimization team to ensure alignment of technology inputs with overall project configuration
Maintain awareness of utility technology developments including combustion advances, waste heat recovery, and emission reduction options; contribute technology benchmarking insights for power and steam systems.
Key Skills & Competencies
Deep technical knowledge of captive power plant design — FBC/CFBC boilers, back-pressure and extraction-condensing steam turbines, HRSGs, cooling towers, compressed air systems, and nitrogen generation; understanding of fuel flexibility and cofiring options
Ability to develop and optimise site-wide utility balance — steam, power, cooling — across all operating scenarios;
experience in heat rate analysis and CPP efficiency improvement
Proven experience in technology evaluation, TBE preparation, and licensor/vendor selection for process technology packages
Process design review expertise — PFDs, P&IDs;, heat & mass balances, and equipment datasheets
Robust technical leadership and team management;
experience coordinating multi-discipline technical teams
Experience in HAZID/HAZOP facilitation
Proficiency in power cycle simulation tools (Thermoflow, GT PRO, PEPSE, or equivalent); familiarity with process simulation for utility integration (Aspen HYSYS or equivalent)
Knowledge of BDEP and FEED deliverable requirements; understanding of project lifecycle for major capital projects
Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to present technical recommendations to senior management
Familiarity with IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations), ASME BPVC, API standards, and applicable environmental and stack emission norms for CPP and combustion systems.
Qualifications & Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
15–20 years (Grade F) / 10–15 years (Grade G) in Power plant, steam generation and utility sections with minimum 5 years in technical lead role
Experience in Pre-FEED, BDEP, and FEED phases for power plant and utility systems design; exposure to site utility balance development and CPP–process integration preferred. Interested candidates, kindly mail to
