The position of Legal Counsel at a leading engineering company in Kolkata requires expertise in legal advisory compliance and contract management Draft review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documents ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal standards Provide legal advice to support business operations including guidance on corporate governance employment laws and regulatory compliance Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations advising stakeholders on their implications for the organization Support entity-level compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory obligations including filings disclosures and policy implementation Assist in the localization and rollout of global policies and processes to ensure alignment with Indian legal requirements Collaborate with cross-functional teams HR Finance Procurement Admin etc to address legal queries and operational challenges Identify legal risks and recommend practical business-oriented solutions to mitigate exposure Provide legal and compliance training to internal teams to promote awareness and adherence to key obligations Coordinate with external counsel on dispute resolution litigation and regulatory matters as needed Engage with government and regulatory authorities for approvals filings and legal clarifications Only candidates based out of Kolkata or willing to relocate applyOnly candidates with minimum of 8 years of experience apply Reporting to the Head of Legal and CFO the ideal candidate should have A degree in law with at least 8 years of PQE Experience in the manufacturing sector is preferred Proficiency in handling legal disputes and regulatory matters Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Our client is a leading engineering services organization and is centralised hub delivering engineering procurement and project support with a worldwide footprint An opportunity to work with global teams Market-competitive salary
