Job Description Batch Scheduler
We are seeking an experienced Batch Scheduler to join our team with specialty in TWS & Tidal Job Scheduling. The Batch Scheduler is responsible for the TWS and Tidal Job Scheduling functions of our managed service provider, working with leaders to define future Job Scheduling strategies, and administering the on-prem and cloud Job Scheduling landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage enterprise job scheduling and workload automation platforms, ensuring efficient execution of batch processes and workflows.
- Maintain a stable, reliable, and high-performing job scheduling workplace through regular upgrades, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide L2 support for Tidal Job Scheduler (or equivalent tools), including incident resolution, deployments, performance tuning, troubleshooting, log analysis, and issue identification.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce comprehensive documentation for all operational procedures, standards, and workflows.
- Define and drive job scheduling standards, best practices, and governance frameworks across the enterprise.
- Lead and contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Problem Management, ensuring identification and remediation of recurring issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and system reliability, including optimization of job schedules and dependencies to support business processes.
- Design and implement automation workflows and orchestration solutions to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance service quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define dependencies,
and manage schedules supporting critical business functions.
- Oversee Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivery, including service request and change governance, SLA monitoring, reporting reviews, escalation management, and cost tracking.
- Partner with Enterprise/Solution Architects, Cloud Operations, and Migration teams to define and execute job scheduling strategies and transformation roadmaps.
- Support and contribute to cloud migration initiatives, ensuring seamless transition of scheduling workloads from on premises to cloud environments.
- Support Disaster Recovery (DR) and resiliency planning, including design, implementation, and testing of workload recovery processes.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and IT teams, providing clear updates on status, risks, and expectations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
Required Professional Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of overall IT experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on expertise with Tidal Job Scheduler, demonstrating advanced to expert-level proficiency.
- Extensive experience working in organizations that follow IT Service Management (ITSM)
frameworks, such as ITIL best practices.
- Strong self-driven mindset with the ability to identify improvement opportunities, recommend solutions, and continuously learn new technologies.
- Proven track record of progressive responsibility and continuous skill development across roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale projects involving multiple technologies and cross-functional teams with diverse skillsets.
- Ability to operate effectively within a multi-cultural, globally distributed, and matrixed organization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrates core professional values such as ownership, accountability, adaptability, and initiative, aligned with organizational behavioral expectations (e.g., Courage, Agility, Ownership).
- Fluency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Professional Skills/Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working within large, enterprise-scale organizations.
- Proven experience operating within Agile delivery frameworks, collaborating effectively as part of a globally distributed team.
- Hands-on experience with Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) and strong proficiency in Unix shell scripting.
- Demonstrated experience in migrating databases from on-premises environments to cloud-based platforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity.
- Experience working in environments that leverage Managed Service Providers (MSPs) for service delivery and operational support.
