Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Hands-On Development

- Write, review, and ship production-quality Node.js/NestJS backend and Next.js/React frontend code daily
- Own technical architecture decisions on patterns, abstractions, service boundaries, and API design
- Lead code reviews with focus on correctness, performance, security, and maintainability
- Debug and resolve complex production incidents and performance bottlenecks
- Design and implement core Sales modules: new homes tracking, resale pipeline, offer management, chain tracking, completion workflows
- Architect real-time portal integrations: Daft.ie, MyHome.ie, Rightmove, Zoopla, OnTheMarket

AI-Augmented Development

- Champion and operationalise AI-assisted development using Claude Code as primary co-pilot tool
- Define team conventions for prompt crafting, context management, and reviewing AI-generated code
- Embed AI workflows into sprint cycles for boilerplate generation, test writing, refactoring, and documentation
- Evaluate and introduce complementary AI tooling (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.)
- Track productivity metrics and report impact to engineering leadership

Team Leadership & Squad Management

- Line-manage and mentor 10–15 engineers across 3–4 Scrum squads
- Oversee daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
- Act as technical escalation point, unblocking engineers and resolving technical disagreements
- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide performance feedback, and support career development
- Participate in hiring: define technical interview criteria and conduct technical assessments





Architecture, Quality & Delivery

- Own delivery of the 12-month product roadmap
- Maintain high engineering quality: unit, integration, and E2E test coverage (Playwright/Cypress)
- Define and enforce coding standards, linting rules, PR templates, and branching strategies
- Lead design and delivery of Reapit-compatible REST API layer
- Oversee security practices: OWASP compliance, JWT security, AWS IAM least-privilege, GDPR

Stakeholder Communication

- Serve as primary technical voice in client-facing calls with Ireland stakeholders
- Prepare technical status updates, architecture decision records (ADRs), and sprint demos
- Translate product change requests into technical impact assessments and revised timelines

Essential Requirements

Technical Skills — Must Have

- Node.js & NestJS: 5 years Node.js development; 2 years NestJS in production
- React & Next.js: 4 years React; 2 years Next.js (App/Pages Router); proficiency with React Query, Zustand/Redux, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
- TypeScript: Strong full-stack TypeScript (generics, utility types, strict mode)
- REST API Design: Proven experience with versioning, JWT/OAuth2, rate limiting, error handling, OpenAPI/Swagger
- Databases: PostgreSQL (query optimisation, indexing, migrations), Redis (caching, pub/sub), S3
- AWS: Hands-on with ECS Fargate, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, Route 53
- Testing: Jest, Supertest, Playwright/Cypress
- Git & CI/CD: Advanced Git workflow; GitHub Actions or equivalent

AI-Augmented Development — Must Have

- Demonstrable experience using Claude Code or equivalent AI coding assistant
- Ability to write effective system prompts, manage context, and critically review AI-generated code
- Strong opinion on responsible AI-assisted development practices

Leadership — Must Have





- Minimum 3 years as Tech Lead/Engineering Lead with direct line management of 5 engineers
- Strong command of Agile/Scrum ceremonies
- Demonstrable ongoing individual contribution to production codebases
- Experience establishing high-standard code review culture

Domain & Soft Skills

- Background in complex B2B SaaS products (CRM, ERP, marketplace, PropTech/FinTech preferred)
- API-first thinking with clean, consistent API design
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to triage ambiguous production issues rapidly under pressure

Desirable/Nice-to-Have

- GraphQL APIs (Apollo Server)
- Reapit Foundation API or property CRM platforms (Reapit, Jupix, Alto, Street.co.uk)
- Irish/UK property market workflows (conveyancing, current homes sales, portal feeds, AML compliance)
- DocuSign/Adobe Sign e-signature integration
- AWS SageMaker or ML deployment platforms
- Data lake architectures (AWS Glue, Athena, QuickSight)
- React Native mobile development
