We are looking for a Junior Structural Designer/Draftsman to join our team. This position involves working under the supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer and collaborating closely with the architectural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting, documentation, and supporting the design process of various structural projects.
Key Responsibilities ● Drafting and Documentation: Prepare detailed structural drawings using
CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) based on the designs provided by the Senior Structural Engineer. Ensure all drawings are accurate and comply with project specifications. ● Design Support: Assist in developing structural design concepts and calculations. Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to refine designs and ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards.
● Coordination with Teams: Work closely with architects and MEP teams to integrate structural designs with other building systems. Participate in project meetings to discuss design progress and address any coordination issues.
● Technical Specifications: Help prepare technical documentation,
including design specifications, reports, and material takeoffs. Ensure that all documentation is organized and easily accessible.
● Site Visits: Occasionally participate in site visits to gather information,
assess project feasibility, and ensure that construction aligns with design intent.
● Quality Control: Review drawings and documentation for accuracy and completeness. Make revisions as necessary based on feedback from the
Senior Engineer or project stakeholders.
● Learning and Development: Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and advancements in structural design software. Seek opportunities for professional development to enhance skills.
Qualifications ● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
● Experience: 0-2 years of experience in structural design or drafting;
internships or co-op experience will be considered.
● Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) is essential;
familiarity with structural analysis software is a plus.
● Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
● Attention to Detail: Ability to produce high-quality work with a focus on accuracy and detail.
● Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively within a team setting while also being able to work independently when required.
