Role Description Software Engineer – Java Backend (AWS)

Job Summary We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a self-organized Services Engineering team to design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions that enhance the experience of credit card consumers. You will work closely with Product Management and cross-functional engineering teams to build high-quality, cloud-native applications while contributing to technical innovation and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
- Deliver high-quality software features aligned with product goals and business priorities.
- Own and contribute to significant components, features, or services within the engineering team.
- Collaborate with Product Management and engineering stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Build and maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing RESTful APIs.
- Drive engineering excellence by promoting coding standards, quality, and best practices.
- Collaborate across teams to maximize code reuse, inner sourcing, and reduce development waste.
- Contribute to technical innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Must-Have Skills




- Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and web services.
- Solid understanding of SOLID principles, SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture), HTTP, and REST architecture.
- Proven experience delivering high-quality, scalable applications in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including:
- Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)

- Pair Programming
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Robust communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional engineering teams.

Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience solving complex real-world engineering problems.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence.
