Job Title: Java Engineering Manager
About the Role
- We are seeking an experienced Manager – Engineering to lead high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams responsible for building and delivering scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions. In this role, you will combine technical leadership, people management, and delivery excellence to drive end-to-end execution across backend, frontend, and integration platforms.
- You will partner closely with Product, Architecture, QA, and DevOps teams to translate business priorities into actionable engineering plans, ensure high-quality software delivery, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Strategy & Planning
- Translate business objectives into multi-sprint delivery plans, engineering roadmaps, and capacity forecasts.
- Establish measurable delivery goals and ensure alignment across engineering squads.
- Enforce engineering standards, architectural guardrails, coding best practices, security, and data privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with Architecture teams to drive modernization initiatives, including API-first design, microservices adoption, and technical debt reduction.
- Convert product and business requirements into scalable, cost-effective technical solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Delivery & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of software features and releases across backend, frontend, and integration services.
- Ensure solutions are performant, resilient, maintainable, and production-ready.
- Drive engineering excellence through strong SDLC practices, including sprint planning, estimation, code reviews, automated testing, and release governance.
- Promote proactive monitoring and observability using logs, metrics, and distributed tracing to improve system reliability.
- Lead incident reviews,
root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage cross-team dependencies, identify risks, and communicate delivery status effectively to stakeholders.
- Engineering Enablement
- Improve developer productivity by championing AI-assisted development, CI/CD automation, engineering templates, and reusable frameworks.
- Develop engineering playbooks, shared libraries, and technical documentation to standardize delivery practices.
- Partner with QA teams to strengthen shift-left testing, automation, security validation, and performance engineering.
- Track and improve engineering performance through DORA metrics and quality indicators.
- People Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and supporting career growth.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive engineering culture.
- Support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and talent retention initiatives.
- Qualifications
- Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- PMP or Agile Project Management certification is required.
- TOGAF certification is an advantage.
- Experience
- 9–12 years of progressive software engineering experience, including 2–4 years in engineering leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in enterprise environments.
- Proven success delivering production-grade backend, frontend, and integration solutions.
- Experience working within global delivery models or Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
- Strong collaboration skills across Product, Architecture, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, cloud-native microservices, and React.
- Solid understanding of service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, and modular application design.
- Experience with messaging and integration technologies such as Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Robust knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, Agile delivery, backlog management, estimation, code quality, and release management.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with observability platforms, monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.
- Working knowledge of application security standards such as OWASP and awareness of compliance frameworks including SOX, GDPR, and DPDP.
- Experience designing and guiding cloud-native solutions using Google Cloud Platform services, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and observability.
- Ability to evaluate architectural options and align engineering decisions with GCP best practices and enterprise standards.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and vendor coordination skills.

- Experience supporting cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of distributed systems and resilient application architectures.
- Experience improving developer productivity through engineering platforms and automation.
- Familiarity with data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and enterprise platform consolidation initiatives
