Senior Product Designer, Behavioral UX (UX Lead)
Location : HSR Layout, Bangalore
Role Type : Full time
About Us :
Ratch.AI is an end-to-end hiring infrastructure platform headquartered in HSR Layout, Bangalore. Our tagline is Hire Confidently, Everytime. We replace fragmented hiring tools - ATS, assessment platforms, interview tools, recruiter spreadsheets - with one unified, AI-native platform covering Sourcing, Assessment, Onboarding, and On-Job.
Our product makes or strongly influences hiring decisions, so it operates in moments of high anxiety and high consequence. The brand promise is calibrated authority - measured, defensible, in control - with unstructured chaos as the explicit enemy. We serve cynical, time-poor candidates; defensive recruiters who fear being reduced to screeners; and protective hiring managers who fear false negatives and losing authorship of their hires. Three actors, opposing emotional fears, the same screens.
Position Overview :
This is a senior individual contributor role reporting directly to the CEO. You own how Ratch behaves - the end-to-end flows, interaction design, and behavioral research behind them. This is not a brand or visual role, and not a management role.
You are the person who decides what happens, in what order, with what framing, on every surface that has a flow or interaction. You partner with a peer brand/visual designer who owns the visual system, typography, and brand register; the CEO arbitrates any tie on a shared surface.
What You'll Do :
- Own end-to-end flows, interaction design, and behavioral research across the adaptive AI interview, the multimodal evidence package, the hiring-manager intake and review experience, and the recruiter workflow.
- Design how the product behaves when the AI is uncertain, low-confidence, or wrong - error states, explainability, human-in-the-loop, and trust-under-scrutiny moments.
- Hold contradictory emotional registers for candidates, recruiters,
and hiring managers inside one coherent system without it splitting into three disjointed products.
- Build evidence-backed journey maps that surface where trust breaks for each actor and propose interventions you can ship.
- Ship live, buildable flows and prototypes - not just decks, frameworks, or research artifacts.
- Establish a lightweight, repeatable research cadence (behavioral, ethnographic, or service-design flavor - your call).
- Partner with a peer brand/visual designer; define a working seam protocol for shared surfaces.
- Defend interaction decisions with research evidence in front of the CEO, recruiters, and hiring managers.
What You'll Bring :
Must-Have :
- Behavioral instinct for trust and resistance under stakes - you read why a human distrusts, stalls, or disengages in a high-consequence moment, and design against it.
- Mindset for non-deterministic, consequential output - you are comfortable designing when the system can be wrong, uncertain, or surprising.
- Bias to ship - you convert thinking into live, buildable flows and prototypes; you do not stop at decks.
- Senior-level judgment in 0-1 ambiguity; can operate with light direction.
- Worked example of designing around a system being wrong or uncertain - AI or any high-stakes domain.
Good-to-Have :
- Shipped experience on a literal AI product where the system can be wrong.
- Adjacent high-uncertainty, high-consequence domains : clinical/decision support, risk and fraud, fintech/trading, safety systems, large-scale recommendation.
- Strong information or evidence design experience - complex enterprise UX, dashboards, or data visualization.
- Background in behavioral science, service design, psychology, ethnography, or a research-driven PM/design role (formal UX-research credentials not required).
Logistics :
- Employment Type : Full-time
- Department : Design
- Location : HSR Layout, Bangalore
- Reports To : CEO
- Peer : Brand/visual designer
- Direct Reports : None (IC-track)
