About the TeamThe platform engineering team within AERO, responsible for building and operating the infrastructure that 40+ application engineers deploy to daily. We own Kubernetes clusters, GitOps delivery, secrets management, observability, and CI/CD pipelines for Spectrum Business's internal application portfolio. The team is transitioning from on-premises infrastructure (RKE2/OpenStack) to Google Cloud Platform (GKE). What You'll DoDesign, build, and operate Kubernetes-based application platforms across on-premises (RKE2) and cloud (GKE) environments Maintain BEAM's RKE2/OpenStack and GCP/GKE, hybrid networking, Workload Identity, and Cloud SQL.

Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (OpenStack today, GCP tomorrow) Develop GitOps delivery pipelines using Rancher Fleet (current) and GCP Config Sync or ArgoCD (target state) Implement and manage secrets delivery via External Secrets Operator backed by Delinea and GCP Secret Manager Build self-service platform capabilities that enable development teams to deploy, observe, and troubleshoot their own applications Own observability infrastructure Datadog integration, SLO definition, alerting standards Participate in on-call rotation Collaborate with 5 application development teams to understand their platform needs and reduce friction Contribute to security hardening (CIS benchmarks, network policies, RBAC design)



Document platform standards, runbooks, and onboarding guides What You BringRequired:6 - 10 years of experience operating Kubernetes in production (any distribution) Monitoring and observability platform experience (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana) Robust Terraform skills — writing modules, managing state, structuring multi-environment configs Experience with GCP GitOps experience — Flux, ArgoCD, Rancher Fleet, or Config Sync Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking (CNI, network policies, ingress controllers, service mesh concepts) CI/CD pipeline design and implementation (GitLab CI preferred) Linux systems administration (RHEL/CentOS, systemd, networking) Configuration management experience (Ansible preferred) Container image lifecycle — building, scanning, registry management Comfortable working in a Kanban-style team with minimal ceremony and high autonomy Preferred:GCP experience — GKE, VPC networking, Cloud IAM, Workload Identity, Cloud SQL, Cloud Load Balancing Experience with External Secrets Operator or similar vault-to-Kubernetes secret delivery patterns Experience migrating workloads between platforms (on-prem to cloud, or between Kubernetes distributions) Helm chart development and management CIS benchmark scanning and remediation (kube-bench) Python or Go scripting for platform automation
