Senior Full Stack Engineer — Founding Product Team Employment: Full-time

We are building a high-trust, technology-enabled information platform designed for large-scale public use.

The product is approaching launch. Its core platform already exists, and we are now looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who can understand the existing system, take day-to-day technical ownership, strengthen the architecture and help us build a reliable, scalable and secure product.

This is not a narrowly defined coding role. It is an opportunity for a strong hands-on engineer to work closely with the Founder, influence important technical decisions and progressively become a central member of the product-engineering team.

What you will own

You will initially focus on understanding, stabilising and documenting the existing platform. Thereafter, you will help lead its continuous development, deployment and technical evolution.

Your responsibilities will include

Understand the existing codebase, architecture, infrastructure and deployment systems.

Take ownership of backend, mobile and platform development.

Build and maintain APIs, databases, background-processing systems and external integrations.

Strengthen application reliability, security, testing, logging and observability.

Manage development, staging and production environments.

Support mobile builds, releases and app-store submissions.

Review existing technical decisions and recommend practical improvements.

Identify launch risks, technical debt, security gaps and single-point dependencies.

Document architecture, deployment, recovery and engineering workflows.

Work with AI services, model APIs, structured prompts and automated workflows.

Establish strong Git, pull-request, testing and release practices.

Work closely with product, editorial and design teams to convert requirements into dependable software.

Help onboard and guide future engineers as the team grows.





Current technology environment The platform presently works with technologies including:

Backend: Python, Django, REST APIs

Database: PostgreSQL

Background processing: Celery, Redis and/or message brokers

Mobile application: React Native and Expo

Infrastructure: Docker, Traefik, Linux servers and Cloudflare

Version control and delivery: Git, CI/CD and environment-based deployments

AI systems: Integrations with leading language models, prompt workflows and structured AI-assisted processes

Experience with every component is not mandatory. Strong fundamentals, backend depth and the ability to understand unfamiliar systems are more important.

The person we are looking for

You should be someone who:

Has strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production software.

Is highly comfortable with Python and backend engineering.

Understands databases, APIs, authentication, permissions and asynchronous processing.

Can work across backend and React Native/mobile code when required.

Has practical experience with Docker, servers, deployments and production debugging.

Can independently study an existing codebase and reconstruct undocumented behaviour.

Writes readable, testable and maintainable code.

Understands the difference between making a feature work and making a system dependable.

Documents decisions rather than keeping critical knowledge only in memory.

Communicates risks early and clearly.

Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, founder-led environment.

Values ownership, integrity and institutional responsibility.

Early-stage or zero-to-one product development

What success will look like

During the first 30–60 days, you should be able to:

run the complete platform independently;

understand and document its major components;

deploy safely to a controlled environment;

trace key backend and mobile workflows;

identify launch-critical risks;

verify backups and recovery processes;

improve testing and release discipline;

and begin assuming dependable day-to-day technical ownership.
