About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Freight & Transport Executive to manage transportation operations, freight planning, and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate should have a robust network of third-party transporters across India, particularly for large open-body trailers, and experience in handling transportation requirements within the steel or allied industries.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end freight and transportation operations across PAN India.
- Source, negotiate, and manage third-party transport vendors.
- Maintain a strong network of transporters for large open-body trailers, flatbed trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
- Ensure timely placement of vehicles for material dispatch as per business requirements.
- Coordinate with sales, procurement, warehouses, and customers to ensure smooth logistics execution.
- Negotiate freight rates and optimise transportation costs without compromising service quality.
- Monitor vehicle movement and ensure timely deliveries.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with transport vendors and logistics partners.
- Resolve transportation issues, delays, and operational challenges proactively.
- Maintain transporter database, freight records, and logistics MIS reports.




- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.

Required Skills

- Strong experience in freight management and transportation operations.
- Hands-on experience in vehicle placement and fleet coordination.
- Excellent vendor and transporter management skills.
- Well-established network of third-party transporters across PAN India.
- Experience arranging large open-body trailers (32 FT, 40 FT, flatbed/open trailers, etc.).
- Strong negotiation and cost optimisation skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics documentation.

Preferred Background

- Experience in the Steel, Iron & Steel, Metal, Building Materials, Infrastructure, Cement, or Logistics industry.
- Exposure to FTL (Full Truck Load) operations and long-haul transportation.
- Existing relationships with transport vendors and fleet owners across India will be an added advantage.

Qualification

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Additional certification in Supply Chain or Logistics will be an advantage.

What We're Looking For

- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in freight, transport, or fleet management.
- Ability to manage multiple transport requirements simultaneously.
- Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Immediate joiners or candidates with short notice periods will be preferred.
