- Line Inspection: Conduct regular patrol inspections on the hot forging shop floor during production shifts.
- Product Monitoring: Check the quality of hot-forged and stamped components straight from the hammers/presses.
- Defect Detection: Identify and isolate forging defects like underfills, scales, cracks, and mismatches immediately.
- Testing Equipment: Use instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and templates to check part dimensions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
2. Documentation & Compliance
- IATF 16949 Maintenance: Update and maintain all IATF-related documents, including process logs, check sheets, and inspection reports.
- Traceability: Record first-part and last-part inspection data to ensure complete batch traceability.
- Non-Conformance: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for rejected parts and track rework or scrap data
3. Shop Floor Coordination
- Operator Feedback: Guide forging hammer operators and stampers instantly if dimensions deviate from blueprints.
- Shift Handover: Communicate pending quality issues clearly to the incoming shift inspector.
