Job Title: Hydraulic Fitter

Department: Maintenance

Reporting To: Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Manager

Location: Shredder Plant

Job Purpose To carry out preventive, breakdown, and corrective maintenance of hydraulic systems installed on the shredder, baler, conveyors, cranes, and other plant equipment to ensure maximum equipment availability and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of hydraulic systems.

Diagnose and rectify hydraulic failures in pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, and manifolds.

Repair and replace hydraulic cylinders, seals, O-rings, bearings, and fittings.

Maintain hydraulic power packs, accumulators, filters, and oil cooling systems.

Monitor hydraulic oil levels, pressure, temperature, and contamination.

Carry out flushing and cleaning of hydraulic circuits.

Read and interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams and technical drawings.

Identify and repair hydraulic oil leakages.

Install and commission new hydraulic equipment and pipelines.

Coordinate with mechanical and electrical maintenance teams during shutdowns.





Maintain maintenance records and report recurring equipment issues.

Ensure proper housekeeping and adherence to safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

Required Skills

Positive knowledge of hydraulic systems used in heavy industrial equipment.

Ability to read hydraulic circuit diagrams.

Knowledge of hydraulic pumps (gear, vane, piston), control valves, cylinders, and accumulators.

Experience in hose fabrication and hydraulic pipe fitting.

Familiarity with hydraulic pressure testing instruments.

Basic welding and gas-cutting knowledge will be an advantage.

Ability to work in shifts and attend emergency breakdowns.

Educational Qualification

ITI in Fitter / Mechanic / Hydraulic Mechanic (preferred)

Experience

Minimum: 5–8 years in hydraulic maintenance.

Preferred: Experience in metal recycling plants, shredder plants, steel plants, rolling mills, scrap processing plants, or heavy engineering industries.
